Please tell me that not buying new fabric only pertains to stores and online buys. Please. I just saw a notice in the newspaper for a quilter's estate sale. That's allowed, isn't it?

Since I retired, a fabric moratorium has been my thinking. Last month a friend commissioned a lap quilt, I showed her several options and then made it for her. We did not talk about a price and she called one of my quilting pals to ask about what my payment should be. She did not want to pay too much "since I had used fabric from my stash". Quilting person set her straight..."she paid $8-10 when she bought it". Some people forget that that stash is an investment.

Krystyna, this is a 'make up your own rules' moratorium. If contributing money to a family of a quilter who has passed on is a pass on your list, we are good with it too. As far as my personal moratorium rules, if I didn't buy it (fabric was gifted to me, or left in a bag on my porch) then I'm good with that!

well, the thread says "Fabric Moratorium" - which does not specify the method of acquisition. You may be able to squeeze by on this one. lol

Regarding the estate sale tomorrow -- maybe I'll just go to look. Although that's how I got my last two dogs.

Yeah, you start petting those dogs (or fabric) and before you know it your car is full and you are heading home. Have fun & be sure & post a photo of your bargains!!!! At least there are no vet bills with fabric.

Yes, Please take a pictures, that might helped to see what someone else got a bargain on, if only for a little while....or will that just make us want to look for sales and bargains of our own. Day 12, doing good, let those panels go by the wayside, after much deliberation and comments to the board, lol. I came to the agreement they are made of fabric.
