It's really easy to sew the strips together using a zig zag stitch and you can use those for table runners, placemats, other small makings.

No need to waste money tossing those strips.

I just saw this pattern for the first time at a local craft shop. Is the purpose of this bag to just keep the potatoes hot? I guess we could do this for hot rolls as well. I saw on the outside of the pattern that it emphasized you use ONLY 100% cotton material, thread, and batting

I am so glad I posted this question before I threw out my scraps. (my husband probably won't be thrilled as packrat is my middle name). I got so many good ideas and since I have fish, birds and dogs, I may have to try them all. Thank you, thank you, I love this site!

I kept them, and just made a dog bed for my fuzzygrandson out of them. Worked really well, just have to find a store that carries cedar chips. Use to be able to find them really easy. Really helps with the fleas.

If they are not large enough to use in bags accessories - like coin purses - I toss them. But don't listen to me - I toss fabric pieces unless they are at least 5-6 inches square too.....

I have lots of different scraps but I save them. You can use them for quilt-as-you-go projects or other projects. I just read of a reuse/recycling project where you use batting scraps, fabric and large juice cans to make a footstool.
