I would probably help her (but wonder about her thought processes!), unless the 'ex' was abusive to me and/or the kids. Life is too short to get crazy about the past.

We must be secretly related as that is something I would usually think but not say!

Hmmmm..... enjoy teaching her to quilt. It's about her not your Ex.

I have always felt that hating someone is a waste of emotion, a poison in a persons life. Your daughter gave you a chance to overcome the hate and that allowed you and your 'ex' to be her parents together for a short while, a wonderful gift to a sick child of any age. Your prayers were answered - the ones for your daughters health and the one that allowed you to overcome your feelings for your ex for your daughters sake.

Turned out very well, too. Kindness is always rewarded sooner or later.

I know what you mean. A couple of years after divorcing my ''ex', I felt he had done me a great favor by divorcing me. Have now been married to my DH for 28 years, and would not trade him for anything, not even a new sewing machine or a quilt shop full of fabric!

I would help her gladly. He's your ex not her's. You'll look great in her eyes and it will surprizingly enough help heal any old wounds---yours, hers and his too.

Two years ago my grown step daughter called me and asked for my help writing her grandmother's obituary----my dh's EX MIL!!!! I took a deep breath and helped her do it. While helping her I held my tongue and didn't mention how I truly felt about that manipulative witch and her hateful self-centered daughter.
