NO, no, no, it's not too loud. The blue really brings it all together with all the blue in the plaids. It looks great!

It is beautiful, just keep adding the denim. It makes it look very manly. If he doesn't like it just send it my way. My son would love it.

I think your right on track with the dark sashing. This is not too loud; the dark blue grounds all the colors. I wouldn't change a thing! :D

I decided to make scrappy blocks using his and his Dad shirts as well as others purchased from Goodwill as my DS's request was to recycle as much as possible for this quilt. He's a scrappy kind of guy so I thought this scrappy quilt would suit him. It's to be a large lap throw (twin size-ish) as he's a tall guy.

So I'm finally making the strips today using a dark denim to pull it all together...and it's just not working for me. It seems way too busy and loud to me. Is it as bad as it seems? I just don't know what to do. I can't imagine tearing it all apart but I don't know if it's going to get any better as I sew in the rest of the denim strips.

Any ideas?
You may think this is odd but the floor background made me think you can do the rest of the blocks with a white print sashing. I think it would make an interesting quilt.

I love it! Not too busy at all. The denim really sets off your blocks well. Keep going!!

I think sometimes we just get tired of a project after looking at it so much. This looks perfectly fine to me. I've been there,...keep going.
The feeling of finished and accomplishment will be worth it...and you will make your son happy

It really is "smashing"! I have had this happen to me...usually because I am too close to it...I have worked on it too long...etc. etc. Once it is finished and quilted...you will be amazed at how great it will look TO YOU...I know this...it happens to me a lot. keep on stitchin!
