Wow. great dress there Donna! I was going to give my clothes to a consignment shop but they all want designer labels. I gave all those away when I moved to Colorado. so charity shops got all mine. Good luck!

I'll keep it as a long dress for those (few) times I need something formal. It does happen once in a blue moon. Besides, it laces down the back and wouldn't be suitable, but it was a good idea!

That's a pretty dress in the picture. Nice to find something like that that wasn't an arm and two legs.

I will check David's Bridal.

I have this picture in my head of something with no sleeves, a square neck with a tea length, flowy skirt...maybe even a light crinoline. Maybe i SHOULD try to find someone to make it? Hmmmmm....

I don't own a dress....I only wear pants and tops...but I had to get something special for my Granddaughter's wedding. Do you have a STEINMART near you....top drawer and priced to own.......Have no idea what you are looking for, but you can certainly find something pretty nice for under $300 at most "good" stores..........Since you have in your head what you want, it may be a hard find.....be open to what looks good on you....take a good and honest friend with you and ask her to be very accurate on her take......you'll find something nice......

I have been shopping for a dress for my son's wedding. I had a dress I really liked but it couldn't be altered because of the zipper. So my niece suggested we go to David's Bridal at a local shopping center. As we went in, Dress Barn was right inside the door. I got a sleeveless, knee length dress for under 60 dollars. It wasn't the swirly skirt I wanted but it was navy blue and that was the color I wanted for the wedding. Macy's, JC Penney's, and Nordstroms had dresses also in that price range but nothing fit quite right.

I heard Sears was closing their stores down for lack of business. Don't know if they are going out of business or just downsizing.

Do you have a Dillard's store anywhere near you? If not, you could check online. I bought both of my "Mother" dresses at Dillard's. Good luck!

I was gonna suggest JC Penny's outlet store. You can look online. I got my dresses for brides maids and my daughters veil when she got married.. Also I always check the clearance racks. Or if you have a friend that sews and is willing to make one for you like the one you wanted. Just a thought
