I would discourage you from using nylon or polyester monofilament thread, as in my opinion there are better choices these days. I would opt for Superior's Bottom Line or MicroQuilter in a color to match the background. If you opt for monofilament, be sure to search the QB for tips on using it as it does require (at a minimum) reducing the upper tension on your machine. I also think a walking foot would be helpful if you are doing straight line quilting, such as rays.

And now I have done some meandering (organic LOL) quilting, but I still don't like it ...

What do you think? My tension is fine (finally), but I am seriously struggling with how to quilt this. I am almost tempted to not even quilt the negative space.

Please, give me your honest opinion, criticism. I don't mind taking it out again - I haven't quilted very much of it.

    Thank you,

Maybe Echo around the wings etc. It's a lovely piece of work you have done. If you have any pieces leftover try it on a "sample" first.

All done! I used the monofilament thread - it's a wall hanging - it will never be washed LOL. I had no trouble doing the FMQ until I got to the edges (I'm very new to FMQ). I broke 7 needles LOL ... dear lord, I was ready to give up!

I haven't snipped the threads or "cleaned" it up yet, but it's done, the border is on, and I'm not doing anything else to it!

A huge THANK YOU to the person who reminded me of the monofilament thread ... what a difference!

Your choice of the monofilament thread was wonderful. The echo quilting really looks good and helps make the stitching an accent of the negative space and a beautiful part of the quilt, and it does not overpower the design of the dragonflies. Job well done!
