Of course you don't sound stupid!

The quilt is a pony themed quilt. I'm working the blocks from Laurie Aaron Hird's second Farmer's Wife book, called The Farmer's Wife Pony Club Sampler Quilt. Between 1907 and 1918 the Farmer's Wife magazine had The Pony Club, where children who sold subscriptions to the magazine could win bicycles, cameras, rifles... and the grand prize was a Shetland pony with a saddle, bridle and a carriage! Over that time period over 500 ponies were given out to thrilled little boys and girls. They were shipped to the kids in railroad cars. The book contains 100 thank you letters and photos of the kids and their ponies. So sweet.

My kids had ponies when they were small, so I'm going to attempt to fabric transfer some photos of them on their ponies for my quilt. My theme is "farm pony", where the pony was more a member of the family, a family pet. My three kids can fight over this quilt when I'm gone, LOL! Or maybe I'll make 3... who knows?

Thank you for the wonderful explanation of the Pony quilt! I was unaware of this historic event in the early 1900's, what a thrill for all of the children to participate in.

Cheesehead: I’m glad you asked that question because I didn’t know the reason behind the name.

    Sewbizgirl: great explanation. Thanks!

I was planning on doing only 1/2 of the blocks but I may only do 1/4 now because I don’t have a lot of coral or turquoise fabric. I just enjoy the camaraderie of doing the blocks together. I can always use the design in a baby quilt or as a medallion.

Welcome, Missgigglewings... Your fabrics look great to me, except for one. That lightest peach on the very bottom in your photo will be perceived as a neutral in the the quilt. You may want to replace it with something a little darker in value. You've got a great selection of neutrals. Only 5 more days until the fun begins!
