Couldn't get comment in after I posted the above pictures. I also learned to sew making dollclothes for my Tony doll back in the 1950s. I still have one of my composition "little girl" dolls, though she is 14" so too small for AG stuff. The collection above are some I made for my granddaughter a while back. She is 8 now and brought her Sage with her when they visited a couple weeks ago. I helped her make a sweet red and white dress on my Featherweight. The other granddaughters are 14 and 12, so not into dolls any more, though they still have their AGs. The oldest made a quilt when they visited earlier this month. Two daughters and and their 5 kids drove out from Wichita KS to VT, so I had a ball sewing them, one at a time. I hated to see them go. Now I need to quilt the top that GD#1 made out of red, black and white strips. All her own design and work except for the mitred corners on border because it was getting too late and they had to leave the next day. One of the grandsons sewed a cat from a printed kit for his sister, and she made him a pillowcase. Other grandson made railroad models with Papa. I so envy folks with grands nearby!

Default Sunflower jumper and straw hat

Just finished this. Think I have enough for maybe 4 or 5 more from this piece of fabric

Default Those who crochet will appreciate these doll purses

I sort of made this up as I went along. Used crochet thread not yarn

When do you think is a good age to give an AG doll? I've already bought my DGD one but have not given it to her yet. She's just 6 1/2 and I want to be sure she's mature enough to take care of her before giving her such an expensive (for me) doll. I recently gave her one of the Target Generation Now dolls as a trial run. Her hair already looks bad!

Great question. I bought one from Nancy's Notions for $20 (I see now they have gone up). I felt the price of the real AG was too much for a five year old. She loves hers and plays right along with her cousin who is 10. The ten year old is old enough and mature enough to play carefully which such an expensive doll, IMHO.

Sue Fish: I love all of your creations. I wish I were still able to crochet. Thanks for sharing.

MandyRose, you've got me going now. DGD will be arriving tonight. I can hardly wait to work with her on doll clothes.
