I am looking to get a new machine also. I would like a combo sewing/embroidery machine. I am not sure how much I would use the embroidery part though. I keep hearing the Brother machines are good. Are any of the ones that Amazon has on sale any good? They seem to have really good prices on them right now. Right now I just have the $79 Target special singer tradition. Nothing fancy. I've just started learning to quilt and am loving it. I am really confused about the different brands they have out there.

I love the Necchi vintage machines and I have a Singer 301, 2 featherweights, 1 201, 1 15-90, and a Necchi Sylvia 586 - a gorgeous little machine. What I sew on are a Juki 98TLQ, Janome Horizon 7700, a Juki F-600. For embroidery I have the Babylock 10 needle and I just bought a Viking Designer SE. The SE is the last tol before the Diamond, from Viking and I have always liked this machine. I honestly think for the money you can't eat the Juki's. They have the strongest piercing power of all the home machines.
I am so lucky. My husband has hobbies and he understands the need to "have". lol

Now everything is groovy and I love her! On YouTube they have a bunch of videos about the 830. I think there are 21. You might want to watch them. Did yours come with a DVD? Mine didn't.

But I love everything about her. I haven't used the embroidery yet. I took one class on it but didn't practice it. I have to take another class.

My dealer is 2 hours away and over a snowy mountain pass. So I can only go in the summer.
    Congrats!
I do have the dvd byt have not watched it...lol. Will ck ou utube for sure. Thanks.

I love my Bernina Aurora 630, but I also love my Horizon and 4000D. They all do different things for me.....even my little Janome 4900 which I take to classes is a love!

Glad I am not the only one. Have my grandmothers Singer, black metal, very heavy in the wood case, she bought it new in 1950-51 when I was 5. I have a kenmore from the 1980's, early, a 3 thread baby lock surger from mid 80's, and a Kennmore 19000 made by Janome emboidery machine, a rebuild Janome 4 thread surger and a fairlen new 80 stitch Brother. Wish I had room to set them all up so I could use what I want when.

I have 2 favorites right now, a Pfaff 60 treadle(straight stitch only) & a Bernina 930. I regularly switch out my full size electric machines that will fit in my Horn Quiltmate II cabinet: Bernina 930,1031,Pfaff 1222E and HV Sapphire 875. It depends on what I'm sewing. They're all my favorites. I have 3 Singer treadle cabinets and 6 different machines that will go in them. I do quite a bit of quilt piecing with a treadle, its relaxing and quiet; I can sew late into the night and not disturb anyone with a machine that has a motor.

    Hard Question.
I love my Pfaff and Viking D-1 for their individual different talents.
