I have a New Home L393 also recently purchased at an estate sale. It is presently in the shop because I could never get the tension to adjust nor the needle position to change properly. I hope it is home from the "hospital" soon. I am glad to hear that this may prove to be a great machine.

For now my favorite machine in my Janome 1600P. It sews wonderfully and always straight (unless I jiggle it). It is my go-to machine for piecing.

My brother PQ1500s. I also have a Viking Sapphire 870, but for piecing and FMQ the Brother is far superior. If I need a fancy stitch or even a zig zag, I use the Viking, but it is fussier about so many things. The narrow feed dogs of a straight stitch machine make quilting and piecing a pleasure. Solid, uses any thread, fast, tough over many layers.

I love my Brother1500 too! I use it with my John Flynn Frame.

Today I am loving my old Singer 27 treadle because I'm piecing a Christmas tree skirt and it's making such beautiful seams. Tomorrow it will probably be my 15, because I'm going to FMQ it. I'm also working on an applique quilt for my DD, and then my favorite is my Janome 10001. It changes from day to day.

About 7 years ago I purchased a Singer Quantum Quilter. Used it for a few years, but when I started quilting again I had my Singer Creative Touch 1030 from the late 70's serviced and have been using it daily since. The newer (plastic) machine just does not have the tight stitch that the older model has, and I am more comfortable using the heavy duty machine.

I now have seven sewing machines. My very favorite is an Elna air electonic 68 su. I have had it since 1978 and love it the best of all...I have a Bernina 185 and it is also a great machine but the Elna is my favorite.

I have the series 8 - 830 sewing and embroidery machine. I use it for sewing, (any & everything). I also use the embroidery unit. I love the large harp, the jumbo hoop and the jumbo bobbins. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I took lessons after purchasing her. They were invaluable to learn the little tips & the inner workings of the machine. I have an awesome dealer & that was probably 90% of the reason for purchasing this particular brand and model. I also take all the online webinars to continue learning. I haven't completely mastered fmq yet, but I'm getting there.
I also have a Pfaff 7570 & Pfaff 2170.

I'm quite surprised to see that so many have multiple machines! My favorite is my only - Pfaff Quiltstyle.

Your little Janome, is it the 660? I think that's the one I want, what do you think? I'm guessing you would recommend it, does it have any downsides? Thanks
