Lost Without a Project. You?
#62
Where I went to school, the nuns always said, "Idol hands are the devil's workshop". Guess it stuck because I am like the rest of you...loving to do quilting, cross stitch or knitting continuously with my hands. As I see it, it's a blessing.

Whoops, I meant IDLE hands...the other idol is not good, right?

You are not crazy!! well, if you are, you're in good company!! ha ha... I always have at least 3-4 projects going and 2-3 that can be grabbed and taken in the car: cross-stitch, hand-embroidery, small quilt... gotta have something to work on!!!

If I don't have a quilting project or some kind of hand work going, I'm just lost. Kind of like my mind can't rest and I'm dissatisfied & squirmy. I'm getting ready to spend a week away with a lot of sitting around, down time. I always have sock knitting, but haven't been able to get a sewing project together to take with me & it's driving me nuts! I'm totally stressed out about a trip I'll enjoy that will only last a week. Do y'all get that way or do I need professional help? Sometimes I can't sleep at night for trying to plan the next project.
heavens
I've got so much started, and a few I need to start.
Start making pillowcases for Christmas prizes or for gifts.

I am glad I am not the only one. We travel a lot and it is usually the first thing that goes in is my sewing. I call them my travellers. Has to be easy and small enough to not bother the person sitting next to you on the plane for example. I have found the perfect pattern. Cathedral Window. I am on my second quilt just in my travel time. However this time I am taking some hand quilting away but I am waiting for the stencils to arrive, we leave in 18 days and I am starting to get stressed that my bag is packed but my sewing is not. I know a lost case, at least I am in lovely and talented company.
Cheers from a very chilly winter in Australia.

Hurray - I'm not the only one. My DH keeps nagging me about just sitting and relaxing without always having something to do. He doesn't understand that I do relax when doing handwork and I get too figety without it. Just finished a shawl for my DGD and started a hand pieced quilt just so I have something long term. Am retiring in a couple of weeks and need something to keep my hands out of the frig.

It is called "the busy hands curse". I believe all sewers, knitters, crocheters and anyone who creates with their hands are stricken with. I just went on a week vacation to my family without any hand things to do. So.........whenever I went in a place that had quilting magazines I thought I had to have it. Now that I am home I discovered I have two of the same of one magazine. Never again will I leave home without a project!!
