Yes, if I believe in the cause. It is important that you think of where the tickets will be sold. For instance, when a quilt was raffled off at the local senior center and tickets were only for sale at the center, the money received would not have covered the cost of the fabric. So, decide where and for how long the tickets will be on sale and think about who might be present to buy. All that needs to be part of the decision.

I would pay $5. for a ticket for a beautiful queen size quilt. I think when people know its for a worthy cause, they will spend the money.

I would pay $5 for a raffle ticket on a quilt. Especially if it was done by some one that did good work. Maybe you could get some place to show the quilt so people could check out the handiwork. Keep it back where people can't touch it but feast with their eyes on it. Just a suggestion.

It kind of depends on where you live and whether or not the average person could afford it. I, personally, would spend that if I believed in "the cause" that was gaining financial support through the raffle.... whether or not I liked the quilt. :-)

i am so glad this topic came up, i am making a raffle quilt for my sister to raffle off to make funds for the shriners children's hospital...she asked me how much to sell the tickets for, and i said $5.00 each....but after reading this thread, i may tell her to do 2 for $5 or something like that....this board always comes up with the best solutions!!!....thanks..

Definitely go lower. It doesn't matter how many tickets you sell, it's how much money you take in. Do $1 a piece, 6 for $5 and 15 for $10. You have to really entice people to let loose of the bigger change. They will go for the $10 more easily if they think that they are really getting a bargain. We're all bargain hunters at heart...and who can pass up the bargain of the day?!?!?!

Have your tickets displayed this way...
Singles for $1
strip of 6 for $5
3 strips of 5 for $10

Make your tickets up in strips of 6 cutting singles off of the strips to get your $1 tickets and your sets of $10 tickets. That way you will get your 1's, 6's and 15's off the same printing of tickets.

People setting up raffles are often thinking that the money comes from single ticket sales, but it really comes from multiple ticket sales. It's just costing you the paper it's printed on.

depends on what folks where you live will pay. around here in SC we go for $1 for one or $5 for 6. I sell mostly ones. we are doing one this week at the county fair (small fair) to raise money for our quilt group. this will help with our charity projects, etc. We have to call it a donation quilt here. good luck to your daughter.

Yes, I probably would buy 1 ticket at that price. But I would be more apt to purchase more if the tickets were less $$

I think the$5 price per ticket is a little high. My granddaughter just made a beautiful Night and Day quilt as her senior project. It is being raffled off with the proceeds to be used to purchase athletic uniforms for our Special Olympics kids. She is pricing $1.00 each, 6 for $5, and 15 for $10. It has been amazing to me the amount of people that will purchase the $10.00 worth just because they feel they have increased their chances so much. In her case she is going for the highest amount of money she can raise so it is working out just great. Her goal is $1000 and she has already raised $750.

Yes,I just donated a quilt done by a best friend for a special group. we sold the tickets,5.00 each or 5 for 20.00. we made 1700.00. Many people really want to help out there and probably 90% of them buy lotto tickets with a chance at nothing. GOOD LUCK
