Embroidery Machines Lets Chat & Have Fun

For those of you who would love to have an embroidery machine, but are hesitant to spend a lot, I just got an email from Brother about the new PE-500 for under $300 MSRP. It only has a 4x4 hoop, but it's the perfect machine to get started with on a budget. And, I'm sure you'll be able to find it for well under $300!

I just bought a Babylock Ellure Plus a couple weeks ago. I've only done a couple small projects. Still trying to learn whats what. My "problem" down the line is that my computer is a Mac. Most things are made for PC. I see that more equipment is coming out marked as working on Macs.
I would love to see a section just for ME.

Check out nancysnotions.com. I think they have a program for Mac users for embroidery.

I got the Stitch Era Universal installed on my computer in the shed and I'm going to install it on my computer in the house as well, so I can play with it. It's a big program and I have been reading the manual, but really haven't started doing anything with it yet. I've got two quilts I'm working on, plus the embroideried flowers that I will eventually make into a quilt. I'm pretty saturated since the two quilts have a deadline. This is the "free" embroidery program that you can download, but I do recommend that you order the CD (14.99 s & h) as it has the manual installed on it! It also uses an installation wizard to get you through that part with no problems. Be sure to disable your Antivirus and firewall before installing and remember to re-activate it after you install. If you are interested in digitizing, this is a good beginning.

Hi
I acutally have three embroidery machines, a small Janome that I gave to my niece, my Bernina 440 and the newest one is the Singer Futura Quartet. My PC that I use on the Bernina has stopped working, I don't have time to have the drivers loaded onto a new PC, (this would require making an appointment and hope there is one available on a Saturrday 1 hr dirve to get there) so I started using the Singer. This past Easter I was making a FSL basket for my Great Niece, one the fourth part after stitching for over 1 1/2 hrs, the machine jammed and the design was ruined.
I started out as an embroider, then got curious about my Bernina 440 EQ - so I tried quilting. Didn't think I would have the patients to sew pieces of fabrics together only to cut them up and resew the,, but I DO!!! I am hooked!!

Suggestions please!!! I just started making a few embroidered pieces for a crazy quilt for the May Doll Quilt Swap (and you're all invited to join us). I decided to use some gorgeous silk rayon I ordered a while ago from India. It keeps breaking at the needle and it is so frustrating. It is marked especially for use in machine embroidery. I lowered the speed, but still ... ARGHHHH! Got any ideas?

I have two Babylocks, an Elegante and an Esante. The Elegante is my newest and I bought the Esante used quite a few years back. I use them mostly for clothing instead of quilting, but I did do 'pinkwork' on a baby quilt. My latest embroidery work was to put a dragonfly on my DDIL's blouse where it had a small tear. Covered the tear nicely.
