I have to put my fabric in storage. :(
For the last two years, we have lived in a little (crappy) trailer that seems to be sucking the life out of me while we are waiting to be able to build a house. I can clean it and clean it, you blink and it's cluttered again. With the arrival of my Baby Girl a year ago, it has worsened exponentially! Last night I had a small meltdown. I have been struggling to keep our bills up to date (since being off on maternity and then returning only part time has made things difficult) but things get lost regularly in this vaccuum black hole of a trailer and I realized that I forgot to pay several bills somehow last month. In discussing with my husband some ways to solve these recurring problems, the biggest solution is, of course to declutter. Right now the only real storage space in our house is taken up by my fabric, books and magazines. The determination was that they need to go. It's all about priorities...sadly, my hubby's priorities differ from mine. I am allowed to keep only one tote in the house to hold WIP's. I am really sad that I won't have easy access to my beautiful fabrics anymore!
I know that none of you can help in any way shape or form, but I am just looking to vent and maybe have a little pity party for a minute. :(
Hope you all have a nice day Ladies and Gents...I am off to purge my stash.

Hopefully your stash and books will go into plastic bins in the garage or storage shed. Then they will still be there when you are ready to move into the new house, or if you really need to look for something. I know it's rough. Hang in there, we're on your side, and it will get better. Hugs.

Awwww! :(

Well, here's an idea....you can go through your stash and sell off some of the stuff that you are on the fence about and have a few extra dollars to pay bills or save for "new fabric" and then when your home is finally done...you will have a clean slate with a stash that is tidy and ship-shape!

I live in a trailer too so I feel your pain, There is so little storage room! I hope your fabric can be stored so that eventually you can get to it again. I raised 5 children in a 3 bedroom trailer and know how much you can accumulate. I will join your pity party but then we have to move forward. Good luck!

a good way to make more room is to get risers for the beds. They aren't expensive, and it will give you lots more room. Maybe that would be somewhere you could keep material.

I am in the same situation. We moved in October into an old house which we are refurbishing. My future sewing room is now the tv room until the living room is finished. So far, we have been working on the 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and my husband's office. Our living room has been the workshop, with the table saw, lumber, drywall, table of tools, etc. taking up all the space. My sewing machine is set up in the corner of the "tv room" and the rest of my books and fabric is in plastic tubs in the basement. I kept a few projects out, and have gradually brought stuff upstairs as I needed it and now my sewing machine is surrounded by tv trays piled high with various supplies, fabrics, and WIPs. The good news is that we are starting the living room this weekend!! Hopefully, it will be dry-walled, mudded, and painted in the next couple of weeks and then I can start on my new sewing room!! Yay!

I remember the days of living in cramped quarters, with 3 kids (((HUGS))) I never thought we would ever have extra ROOM again, but it did happen  in the mean time, come here and vent whenever you need to... we do understand!!! (((HUGS)))

I feel your pain. When my DH and I married we sold his house (smaller than mine and in a deteriorating neighborhood) and he moved in with me. When his two small children also moved in my sewing/painting room had to be put in a 4 1/2'x 5 1/2' linen closet. It just about drove me crazy but with the help of some flat storage boxes to put under beds and some very creative uses of other furniture we made it through until we could get a bigger place. Have you considered some of those Space Saver bags?

Here's a hint - it doesn't have anything to do with sewing but everything to do with bill paying. For years I have kept a notebook (3 ring binder type), across the top of the page are the months, down the right side is the list of monthly bills, at the bottom of that column are the bills that are quarterly, bi-yearly, yearly - when a bill gets paid I put a check mark in the month column, then I can see at a glance what has been paid, what needs to be paid, etc
You can also keep track of auto-pays so you know if you entered them into the checkbook, etc.
This has helped me tremendously over the years - I always know what's been paid, what needs to be paid, remind myself to take off the autopays, etc
