    No, I don't use that for my pattern. I want my blocks all to match my pattern. That other way is beautiful and would make a lovely quilt, but is not a true original Bow Tie. I do like the Cathedral touch and have used it in the past, just for an addition for a quilt or a medallion of a shirt or jacket.

    I found this link too. Same method.
    That with the same color square could be utilized by whip stitching the openings of the square closed.

    I made a quilt using this pattern, which I thought was called an improved bow tie; used fabric from all the clothes I had made for my granddaughter. 3 squares were the same color and used white on white for the other 2. It was quick to put together.

    this one is sewn oddly; the middle square is folded in half, and included in the seam of the pairs, then the 3rd seam encloses it, very unique way, but quick.
