I've learned I really do have a creative gene.
I've learned tons from QB!! Thank you all!!
I have learned not to quilt when I am not in the mood.
To quit when I am tired.
To walk away when I am stumped, no matter what... if it's for a few minutes or a few days. It will come...
    To use quality thread.

I am also overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and other quilting stuff I have. I was planning on moving and packed up my sewing room and now have postponed the move. While I am leaving a lot of things packed, I am unpacking my sewing stuff and going to do a major purge - just too much. A friend of mine does not have a stash at all. She buys fabric as she decides on the quilt she is going to make.

So, what have I learned? While a stash is good, I need a much smaller one so I can buy fabric specific for a quilt and not try to find something in my stash. In the long run it will be cheaper as I won't keep having to purge fabric I no longer want or like.

I am in the process of moving and I know for a fact a huge stash will eventually become a burden. From now on I'm going to let the fabric and quilt shops store it for me.

Yes, trolleystation! Murphy's Law says if anything can go wrong, it will. The corollary: When that one thing does go wrong, it will be the one to do the most damage

    Great Thread, Thank you.

Since starting to seriously quilt in 2000, I have learned:
    - you really do need some blenders and background fabric to go with all of those “Wow” prints you bought.
    - why have just one red print in a quilt when you could use dozens?
    - just get it done. Many UFO’s do not age gracefully and colours sometimes look dated.
    - change your blade and needle more often. Neither work well when dull.
    - it’s ok to gift, re-purpose or destruct partially finished projects that you don’t love anymore.
    - buying a longarm with your best quilting buddy is a really good idea!
    - sharing and gifting fabric, books and patterns with other Quilters or quilting groups is good for everyone!
