I just wanted everyone to know that would love to garden but can't esp due to back or knee issues that you can buy a garden seat on wheels that is a life saver. I just bought a metal one for $59.00 that we found on the internet. No more kneeling!!

Been working in a flower garden (I just call it a flower bed) and have more of that I want to do soon before the weather gets hotter. DH has plowed up the vegetable garden area and the seed are waiting to get in the ground. It will be a while though, we got 3" of rain out of the weather system that started yesterday in our area. Waiting to put out the tomato plants too. It just takes so long for those to make the great tasting sandwich fixings, but it's worth the wait. Meantime, I need to plan my 2nd ever quilt.

We laid 71 ,2 cu bags of mulch last week and weeded most of the beds. The garden it is to early to get into. The garden is 75 ft by 20ft lots of work. I plant tomato, cuks, ghost peppers, green peppers and big pumpkins. Grandchild like to come over and watch it grow.

My daffodils are done for this year, as of about 2-3 weeks ago. Azaleas are in full bloom and snowball bush has little white balls on it. Everything here is about a month early. Temps have been in 70s and 80s for a month, going to low 90s, sometime this coming week. Too warm too early for me.
I don't grow anything but gift flowers my Husband and Kids get me. I grew flowers and veggies when the kids were growing up. Now I just make quilts.

In north Texas my vegee garden is mostly in. Potatoes (sweet & Irish) lots of lettuce, beans, tomatoes, peppers, & Eggplant all growing great. Squash & cucumbers just coming up.Soon will be planting Okra. Did this about 3 weeks ago. This past week I worked on my yard but must get back to Quilting

we are going to build raised gardens this year .. Last year the weeds got really bad and we even put down the "good stuff" to kill em and no luck so they took over all our veggie garden. Spent more time at the farmers market than in our own garden !LOL
I also want to grow an herb garden again this year !

Believe it or not. I picked and ate some blackberries in my yard yesterday, that were as big as my thumb.. Unbelievable for March even in North Florida. Its crazy. cmaras

butternut squash
zucunni squash

cauliflower - remember to tie the leaves up when the head appears
herbs - that way you can dry them for all year around

We put out tomotoes, green peppers, cucumbers, broc, cauliflower, carrots, corn, peas and green beans. Everything gets canned or frozen, except the cucumbers. I also plant merigolds in my veg garden to help with the insects. We will begin planting probably next week. I usually wait until after Derby Day (1st Saturday in May) but the weather has been extremely warm, we will get started early. Have fun!

Deer don't seem to have a taste for Jonquils & tiger lilies . Dave's Garden site has a whole section on plants deer don't bother. Happy planting!
