nope, not new england. Mother's grandfather from Wales (England), and she was raised in Montana. But she stuck to the no sewing on Sunday. Family comes first, tho, even when quilting is fun.

I sew on Sunday. Our church quilting group meets on Monday and I procrastinate on projects until the day before our meeting.....

I don't consider quilting work, so yes quilting on Sundays is fine.

I think it is up to the person. We are all sinners saved by grace.. If one says not to sew on a Sunday then maybe that is their conviction. Is it any different than watching some of the things another will watch on TV? Is it any different than cooking a meal? Were we meant to sit and fold our hands on a Sunday??? I believe your answer is in your heart. If you feel the Lord nudging you not to then for you maybe you shouldn't. Same as one eats pork and another feels it's a sin. I do not know where you are spiritually, I say take it to the Lord and follow his will in YOUR life... No man can judge....many HUGS :)

I remember my dad telling me he couldn't ride a horse, go fishing, or play ball on Sunday's. I got the impression he really didn't like that ideal. But he never passed that onto his kids, I would say because he didn't like it as a kid.

I sew and garden on Sunday's when I garden no matter what day I feel closer to God because he is the creator of the beauty I get to watch grow.

It depends - between church in am & church at night on sundays. I try to get a nap. I don't do any strenuous work because I'd have to take another shower & re-do my hair. I sometimes do hand work while watching TV.

And yes, my mother told me the same thing about sewing on Sunday. My grandmother cooked on Saturday for Sunday - on a wood stove at that.

She must be related to my great grandmother, who said if you sewed on Sunday, you had to rip out the stitches with your nose. A daunting task.
