I learned long ago, whoever will always try to belittle anything I set out to do, so I don't pay attention to what he, she want to call what I do. You can't change how someone feels about your quilting, so you just have to keep confidence, you like what you do.

I don't let having some call my quilting a "hobby" because what ever it is called, I enjoy doing it.

For me it is both therapy and salvation. I don't think either of those things fall under the heading of hobby.
It gives me back the ability to be a useful and contributing member of my community and society; something I had lost when I became disabled. When I lost that, I sort of lost myself too.
In the midst of trying to learn to redefine myself as disabled and no longer productive, I discovered quilting and could see myself in a positive way again!

    HA HA HA !!!

It keeps me busy and out of the cookie jar.
I like the part about designing my own quilt tops, and
    putting the colors together

At this time of my life, being a part-time nurse is my hobby and being a quilter with the girls is my job. I go to my hobby to pay for my job! :O)

For me, quilting is a ministry! I firmly believe that people need the comfort of a quilt to cuddle with, especially kids of all ages. LOL It is a Christian addiction for me. As long as the fingers work and the sewing machine works and the fabric is there! Well, I have to make a quilt. God Bless.
