Thanks for your feedback everyone. I can get a 15 inch Matilda board from Nancy's Notions today for $59 plus $9 shipping total of $68. I'm thinking a Martinelli or a Matilda board would be my preference. If I wait for half price from Martinelli in November, would it be less than $68?

    Argh. Matelli's not Martinelli's.

I would wait for a sale on either board. I just looked at Walmart online (didn't realize they carried Martelli products) and you could buy the Martelli base and mat for $66.11 before tax, with free shipping.

Walmart is a third party seller but returns are to Walmart like they are at Amazon. And you can pick up your order at any Walmart store and return it there if you need to. Watch the price of an item as it can fluctuate day to day. I usually keep something I want in my cart and get notified of any price change.

I love my Martelli mat and also have the pressing top for the rotation base.

I bought the Matilda from Nancy's Notions. I'll let you know what I think of it once I try it out. Thanks very much for your feedback.

I got the Matilda for half price on Craftsy and love it! I used to use the square Olfa (I think) but it doesn't compare with this one.
Oops- didn't see your last post. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.

How do you make the mats last that long? I too have several Olfa mats that are pretty much worn out.

They aren't suppose to last with lots of use. You can turn it over and rotate the cutting area and that will prolong the life of it. Also soaking in water to rehydrate the mat helps to keep it supple. I won't use an old worn mat no more then I would use a dull rotary blade.
