Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but you are not the only one to do this. However, when I tried to sew my thumb, I didn't break the needle and have to have it pulled out. You're at the top of the "would you believe" list, but regardless, it still did hurt. Glad your husband was able to pull out the 2 parts of the needle. That must hae hurt. Myy best wishes for a speedy recovery. PS: You did a super job in not bleeding on the strip you were piecing. You did honor the 5th rule of quilting - Thou shalt not bleed on your quilting pieces (or quilt).

Yep, did that when I was about 14 with my Mom's treadle machine. I said, "Ouch!" My brother asked what was wrong. I said, "I just sewed my finger!" Haven't done it since, and hopefully never will. Hope you heal fast.

Ouch. Last night while sewing I got my thumb under the bar/screw that you tighten to hold the needle. It really smashed it and broke through the skin. Today it looks nasty but I am sure it will be better soon. It wasn't bad enough to stop me from finishing my project.

I've never sewn my finger, but I did help my friend get hers out of the machine when she did. Still makes me cringe. eeeww
