I have a sidewinder and I can't get it to work right - I have tried numerous times and just get frustrated and go back to the machine.

I have one also and I use it for this same reason and I love it. I got mine at JoAnns with a 50% off coupon. Some times I take it to sewing classes and let others use it.

I bought a Sidewinder when my 40 year old Necchi decided it was too tired to wind bobins. I don't like how the bobins turn out. They are just so-so. Thankfully I got a new sewing machine. Now, I just wind 2 or 3 bobins in the color I'm using (depending on the size of the project) so they are ready and waiting. Works for me.

My sister-in-law has one...We tried it but she said that it didn't wind the thread in a way that the maching liked....kept having issues when sewing with the bobbins that were wound with this...so no...don't need this esp when machine does this for you!!!
