What do you do when you have a lot of bobbins with bits of thread?

l have my bobbins in two donuts and keep them by my machine. When I sew, I can see at a glance all my thread and it helps me use up my bobbins. I also will use a bobbin for the top thread when I'm working on small projects. Having extra bobbins helps too. When I got frustrated about not having enough bobbins or a workable system to find them easily, I bought the donuts and an extra pkg of bobbins. Good investment to bring down stress and increase my sewing enjoyment. I highly recommend anything that cuts down frustration!

I noticed this with my machine and it makes me glad that I have both Janomes...as they both use the same bobbins. I transfer the half used (or more) bobbin over to the area where I'm sewing and use them up while piecing. If I'm in a really "aware" mode---that's when I use up all my "mostly empty" bobbins.

I did solve a lot of problems by buying a lot more bobbins. Then, I wind 10 or more white or off white all at the same time and only save back a few empty ones for certain colors. I tend to use mostly white or offwhite in the bobbin unless it really is a dark colored fabric or am working on binding where I need a certain color.

I roll them onto an empty thread spool and use them for quick tacking.

As I only use neutral or grey to piece I use the bobbin until it runs out. Embroidery bobbin thread is expensive so no way will I throw it out. I have double thread stand that I use the most so I keep any with thread on the extra post then use them if I am embroidering a small area. I hate waste. I made life easy for myself and bought two extra packs of bobbins so have over 100.

Why a disaster?? It's just a matter of going back a stitch or two, change the bobbin and continue.

Has anyone heard of thread bowls? Apparently you save thread bits and bobs and ends of bobbins and mix them with some sort of adhesive and use an upsidedown bowl to shape the "thread bowl". I am sure I did not dream this but have been unable to find any instructions
