My favorite tool is my HST ruler from QIAD Eleanor Burns. You just put the dotted line on the seam of the sewn triangles after cutting them apart and trim the edges and you have perfect sized HST every time.

I have many favorite tools and gadgets-but most recently I bought a pair of jewelry nippers at JoAnn's - for $1.99 (1/2 price) and still used my 20% off everything coupon-they are really sharp, and with a small damage-free handing hook on the front of my machine, they are always at reach. Having said that, I just got my new Brother PC420 Project Runway machine a couple days ago, and with all bells and whistles on the front, there isn't really a place I can hang them (maybe on the side). Anyway, for the money, I was tickled pink. I never used nippers before-they are sure handy!

I don't unthread my machine to wind a bobbin either. I just use a second spool of the same thread. I can hold it in my hand freely to let it spin, just keeping slight tension on the operation so that the thread winds tight enough on the bobbin.

You can buy these at fabric stores OR you might find a magnetic wand for playing Bingo. Some of the Bingo chips have metallic threads in them for quick changing when the game is over.

My favorite tool in my sewing room..is the quarter inch foot to my Bernina. It has a little metal guide, my seams are always exact.

I am in deep trouble. I have every tool that was mention in this thread except the mustache trimmer and I use a razor for removing embroidery stitches. I guess it would be a tie between the 6" seam guage and one of my many pairs of small scissors.

LOL..inflation gets to us sooner or later but I figure anything for under a half dollar is still pretty unusual!! I have enjoyed all the posts on here and got some ideas too.

I have two that I wouldn't want to be without....

the first and most important is my "add 1/8" ruler" for my paper piecing.

......and the other is my binding tool.

The binding tool does wonders when joining the binding ends on the finished quilt.
