Default What would you pay for in your quilts?

The thread about paying for someone to do the binding made me think about what I would gladly pay for: Cutting out a pattern - I have a GO and lots of dies, there's always 2 or 3 shapes that I have trouble with.... Then, if I have any money left I'd pay someone Gladly to sandwich that bad boy.

    How about you?

I met a woman last week that charges 25 cents per inch for binding!

I pretty much like everything ... putting on borders and scrappy backs I like as soon as then are finished! I would love to pay someone to organize my sewing room!

Most of my quilts are small and quilted on a domestic machine. I would pay someone else to do the long arm (large quilts) but haven't found anyone who'll quilt it with my vision. I know of lots of quilters who do a fabulous job, just not my vision. Every time I long arm a quilt for someone, I wonder if it's their viision. Maybe I need to allow myself more time and embrase the long arm process

I would like to pay someone to baste my large quilt sandwiches. Lately I have been using my Q snap frame to thread baste my small and medium quilts and that has worked well.

I would pay for the basting! That is the one part of quilting I hate with a passion-- a little exaggerated but you get the point

When I decided which part of the quilt making I dreaded I decided to find out why. For me it was sewing binding strips together. Now I cut binding strip the length I need from the lengthwise. I bought several bolts of the colors and prints I use the most for binding and cut the amount I need in one long strip. Problem solved. Then the next dreaded thing was basting. I tried spray and glue basting and it suits me. All I needed was folding tables to lay out the quilt sandwich. Another problem solved. Try to find a different way to do the part you don't like. Or do like my friend. She does not bind her quilts. She stay stitches the edges and she is done. Her quilts look just fine without binding and doesn't bother her one bit. They wash and wear fine.

I'm too cheap to pay anyone to do what I can do! Seriously....I enjoy all the steps. Binding is my favorite.
