If you have a Paper Plus store in town, they have vellum.

I guess that I am surprised that this is called "vellum". Shows you how much I know! I have used the thin paper made for PP, which may be printed on. I scanned my design and printed it out rather than hand drawing each page etc. I also learned on this site to use a very small stitch so that the paper tears more easily. Good luck. I hope you find the perfect solution and that you will let us all know how well it works.

You can also get it from art supply stores or if you have a company in town that does blueprint work sometimes they will sell you large pieces.

I don't use vellum. I use doctor's exam table paper. Its transparent, comes on a roll with lots and lots of length. The draw back is its not printer friendly. What I do is needle punch the pattern. want more info contact me privately

I use the old airmail weight typing paper. You can put it through the printer, draw on it etc and it is easily pulled from the material when you have finished

Vellum will be spendy but if you insist on it, try the office supply store...I believe they have vellum in "book" form.
You might want to consider cheap typing paper. That's what I've used with success.

I woiuld avoid the "commercial" pp paper sold at quilt stores.
    Way too over priced.
I have used "tracing paper" and that also is sold bound

Go to your local office supply and look around.

Once you get going on it, you might want to try Marjorie Rhine's Painess Paper Piecing..

You do use the paper piece pattern, but don't actually sew THROUGH the paper. People who have tried it swear they won't go back to the old way.

We had a teacher come to our guild who suggested the thin sheets of paper that hamburgers are wrapped in. You can get them at restaraunt supply stores

Believe it or not, I tear the pages out of my old phone books and use them! It works great. I have not had any problems with ink staining my quilt like you might think. And the price is certainly right!
