I'm currently working on a quilt with snowball blocks, and I'm using yellow for the corners. It's not an extra bright in-your-face yellow, but enough to add some "pop" to the blocks.

I generally use more gold than yellow in my quilts.

Seems every season there's "favorite" color, but I agree with you, there does always seem to be a shortage of yellows, oranges and peaches. I load up whenever I see these colors and I have a pretty good supply now. Looks like this is the season of lavender and purples - my granddaughter's favorite colors.
Anyone have info on the apparent shortage of yellows on the quilt walls??

I haven't used very much yellow, but would not hesitate to use it to "spark" a flowered quilt orsomething for an older lady, or a baby quilt. I guess I definitely would stay w/ a feminine quilt.

I use a lot of yellow but I suspect it is because I love quilts from the '30's. Yellow is one of my 3 favorite colors...red, green and yellow. My GD says, "Oh just like the stop lights!". Just attached the one I am working on now..it is called "Little French Picnic"..from a magazine from several years ago. If interested, I can send more info.

A few years back it was hard to find yellow prints---period. Mentioned it to someone in the know and they said it was hard for the mfg. to find the dyes. Really don't know how true that is, but it is easier now. As was mentoned, light yellows are hard to find. Marge L.

Below is a link to an article about using yellow in a quilt.
I found it most helpful. There are many more articles on that website that discuss color.

    Enjoy.

That's a very good article. Thanks - it's amazing how our subconscious works. Is there an article on green?
