So, on with the story about the Singer 1891 machine and treadle that Quiltncowgirl and I got and split.
Here's my 1909 66-1 in the cabinet now. I think she looks very smart in there!! But still not sewing...I have to check if the hook is moving. She was dry as sand when I got her, and I have been oiling her for days. Some stuff is still really really tight.

My "new" Brother machine (from eBay), I LOVE the color---looks like Black Raspberry ice cream....yum. The only problem is that it broke out of the base during shipping and I can not get the remaining hinge out. It's crooked but stuck--big time. I'm having a hard time seeing underneath it but I'm hoping that there might be a screw or something that will release it.

Up through Jr HS, we had ugly one piece dark blue uniforms that we had to embroider our name on the pocket. Not a good look for me at all! I hated them![/quote]
Yes!! We had to wear those too! And the gym teacher was a retired WAC that made us march around the gym. We did everything but salute her. Had to line up for roll call and couldn't relax until she said "at ease". I haven't thought of her in years.....

Penni, thanks for the attachment pics!
Cathy, I'm envious of your new, pink machine! Love it! Yes the hinge pin has a screw. I hope you can save the bottom of the case, but I'd sacrifice the bottom to save the paint job on the machine. Glad there wasn't any damage to the machine!

Hi, no I'm not a member....I don't own a treadle machine. This one isn't a treadle either. But, I'll have to keep an eye out for your shows!

If you want a straight-leg treadle, then see if you could pick up this for lots less. The cabinet looks like work, and the machine could be great-excellent for free-motion quilting. If you already own a Singer 15, then forget the machine.
I own a Singer straight-leg like this one (metal sides) ( there are metal side legs and the older wooden legs) that is very noisy if not on carpet and not situated in just the correct area of the floor.
My suggestion is to only go after this straight-leg treadle, if you really must have a straight-leg cabinet today, otherwise wait for a free one to show up or wait until a wooden straight-leg shows up.
