I have this machine, and would buy again in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, I spent several years hunting one down for a friend who was infatuated with mine, and spent most of the time we were together trying to talk me out of it!! I have used it as a treadle, but mostly use as a HC. A great machine, but I guess I don't need two of them!!

If you want a straight-leg treadle, then see if you could pick up this for lots less. The cabinet looks like work, and the machine could be great-excellent for free-motion quilting. If you already own a Singer 15, then forget the machine.
I own a Singer straight-leg like this one (metal sides) ( there are metal side legs and the older wooden legs) that is very noisy if not on carpet and not situated in just the correct area of the floor.
My suggestion is to only go after this straight-leg treadle, if you really must have a straight-leg cabinet today, otherwise wait for a free one to show up or wait until a wooden straight-leg shows up.

Janice I love the new Lotus pictured in the photo shop. Have you tried adjusting the stitch length? I had the same problem with my Davis Vertical feed until I started playing with the stitch length. She wouldn't make a stitch either.

Candice nice 319! And, Lucy you got some great deals, but you have your work cut out for you on those 3 machines!
Oh, and Miriam is the Dr sure it in not poison ivy? I'd still bet that is the culprit! My horses eat our poison oak, but if they eat too much they get burned lips! I actually had to go out and pull the stuff up by the roots to get rid of ours. It was everywhere! Luckily some people are not as sensitive to the stuff as others are. I have always heard that poison ivy is much worse than poison oak. I'd get the goats! Once the stuff is gone, you can always replant your yard!

Did you look at the bottom of the listing? It says they can provide you with a local firm that will pick up the item, package and ship to you at your expense....maybe your daughters could be happy! Good luck!

Well, I have been researching the Hitachi treadle now for a couple weeks. I even sent an e-mail to Hitachi. They replied with all the departments and tools, etc., the company makes with no mention of a treadle sewing machine! I am beginning to think that treadle was made for a very very short time, like under a year! It seems to be an anomaly! I'd love to take it to the TOGA, but that would be hard being it is a treadle!

So sad! My 20 year friend said she could not hang out with me any more. We when to a vac & sew shop about 2 months ago, I saw a ¾ 66 for the first time and just had to have it. She bought a ¾ 128 shuttle Singer [like her mother had]. Well then she wanted a treadle to put it in. instead she found and bought a nice cabinet and head, [paid too much, I was not with her]. I told her it would not fit her 128. So she has bought another one I have not seen yet, and it will not fit either. She had 2 complete treadles and a portable. So not she has the bug and got it from me, I am a bad influence, and she can not hang with me any more. She also wants an old chain stitch like mine, now.
Monday she is going with me about 90 miles to pick up a commercial chenille machine; [she does not want to miss any thing]. And I do not have any room for it.

I just e-mailed the seller and told them they can sell the machine for parts only, but that it's far from operational!!! Bet they picked it up for $5 and want to get rich quick.
