Did you have the pressure foot down? You can use the cover from the buttonholer if you have one.

Try a slider or a piece of vinyl over the bed plate with just a hole cut out for the needle, I tape it down with shipping tape. I use a piece big enough to cover the bed of the machine. Works super! You can get the vinyl at Wal-Mart or fabric stores.

Luckily the parts for this machine are really easy to find so I might would go for some accessory feet if I were you.
the machine uses the standard 15x1 needles and the class 66 bobbins that are readily available at Walmart and other fabric getting stores! I love my Singer 66's and you should too, but if I were you see if you can get a darning plate for the machine!!

Please don't even bother with the bobbins sold at Wal-mart. They are poorly made and often cause more problems. Cindy Peters and Sew Classic sell good quality bobbins. If your machine has back clamping feet, they are a bit more difficult to find.

The yard sale goes from Either West Virginia Or Virginia to Georgia along one hwy and is the most fun I have had in a long time. I am going to plan my vacation around it next year! I was able to go 10 miles on it in Lewis County TN and I saw maybe 3500 vendors in that short of a distance. A lot of Mennonites were wandering around there and they had quite a few machines for sale. I had my credit cards but its hard to use them at a yard sale LOL!!

But believe me I am hurting big time today but it was worth every bit of it!!
