I can hand stitch a button on that will never ever come off. I can't whip stitch or do other hand stitches worth a diddly hoot.
Not sure about my wife. In eons past when I needed something repaired that required hand stitching I got my mom to do it. Unfortunately she's gone now.

Well see. Thanks for all the suggestions.

large safety pin the colorcatcher to a fat quarter sized piece of muslin because they like to get stuck in the drain of the machine and cause a mess and a repair bill.

wash #1 in cold water. Use the color catcher as an added safety For #2 try the bleach / peroxide ideas. Then if it still shows, either applique a patch or put your label there.

Joe, I have an old Kenmore that writes names, I might be able to help you make a label of sorts or maybe you can free motion a label to sew on.

Now that is a machine I could use for many projects. What model is it?

Yep, it seems you were right. We tried to clean the scorch mark but it won't clean. And a tiny hole opened up so, it's applique time.

I got an idea I'm going to try. We'll see what happens.

To remove the cat pee smell fight fire with fire - so to speak. Urine is ammonia. Go to the dollar store or the grocery store and buy a 1/2 gallon or a quart of clear or lemon ammonia. It isn't expensive - a couple dollars if that. Add 1 cup of the ammonia to the washer with the quilt. Wash normally. The ammonia won't hurt the fibers or the colors of the quilt and it won't leave any lingering residue or odor either.
As an added plus it will clean your washer's tub and the drain lines.

As for the burn mark..I would try a dab of bleach on a q-tip...the backing looks like it's white on my monitor, and maybe the bleach would turn the brown to white? I would give it a shot if it were mine!
As for the cat pee...pet stores sell something that is especially for getting the cat pee smell out of carpets..it's an enzymatic something or other...the theory is that the enzymes break up the proteins in the cat pee, and then the smell will wash out. Good luck!

That's a ball or a bar kind of thing, isn't it?

The ones we usually use are like dryer sheets - I think they're 20 to a package for about $4-5. I use 4 or 5 of them when washing a new quilt, but they can be reused until they're very dark-colored - 3 or 4 launderings at least.

The one my wife brought home is one 9x13 inch terry cloth sheet.

We're gonna check for the multi package ones.
