Very pretty machine! It looks a lot more like the shape of a 301 than either 15 or 66, to me...

JC, what a find! I especially like the foot pedals. The egpytian one has cool decals too. You are so lucky. Lucy

For anyone in the north eastern Massachusetts there is a really nice Wheeler and Wilson sewing machine and gorgeous coffin top cabinet for only $70.00

Here is the CL link:http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/atq/2297262273.html

Of course, that section of the state is supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow tonight    and that is not even an April Fool's joke!

yes, I do have another machine with a zigzag. I think that's part of what makes this so difficult.

the 301 is more portable, so I'm leaning towards it. There's just something about the 401, though...

Here is a nice review of the 401:

It could be she's a 301 clone. I know she takes 15 bobbins. Thanks for the compliment on her beauty - she's the prettiest one I have, color-wise.

The cam thing might be the deciding factor for me -- depending on what I wanted to do. I love my 503, but it will not sew at all without a cam!

Nancy

The 401 takes cams and also has a built in camstack for decorative stitches. The 403 and 503 must have cams to do any zig zag stitches at all.
The 301 is also a full size machine and straight stitch only,
weighs about 16#; has a built in handle.

I am trying to catch up on the posts. I have been having trouble with my computer. Grrrr. I need to get updates.

Well, I got my Singer 27 working a bit, I am going to have to play with it tomorrow as it is not stitching good. Maybe every one inch is ok. Sure is fun to treadle on it. Pat

That Wheeler and Wilson could follow me home and I wouldn't complain...but getting it Downunder might be a little on the $$$ side...boohoo!!!

Is the harp space as large as it looks in the second photo? If so, it would be great for quilting.

Oh well, Sharon (or someone else) can have it and I can just sit here drooling!!! LOL
