I went today and picked up this one. The cabinet is beautiful.!! The machine is serial number 2400312, probably about 1900. Has a wooden pittman. Was taking pictures and my batteries lost their charge. So now I'm waiting for them to recharge.

This will prep the finish for repair. Then on the bare spots where the finish is gone put some shellac on a rag with a little linseed oil as a lubricant and use a circular motion to apply the shellac then wipe with the grain of the wood. Do this until the level of the repair is even with the old. Let cure for about a week the wax with a paste wax.

Thanks, Glenn. You're a peach!! :-)

One of the people wanting red to go with the rest of my machines is me, but that is wayyyyy too rich for my blood. I am a patient person, and one will come, I am sure of it. Looks like worst case scenario, I should sell out and start over, if I would get those kind of prices for what I have. I have some I am sentimental about, and some are just neat. I have a preset limit most times when I am shopping, and have rarely exceded it. Only for my fw, I think, and it was with the table and stool, too.

I guess I have to post a message before I can subscribe, so here it is!

Is it withdrawal symptoms, or just separation syndrome? My vintage machines are still in the trailer from the quilt show and county fair displays. The house sure is empty without them, and I miss piecing on the 66.

When you post/reply, go to the "Advanced" option. Under the box where you type, there is "manage attachments." Hit the blue button. For me, a separate window pops up where I can upload a picture file from my computer. Just hit the blue "upload" button. This new format is nice because you can preview your post without losing any pictures. :) Hope that helps.
