I bought this black 301 this week in a sad cabinet. I had to disassemble the hook as it was wrapped in thread, re-time it, then disassemble the tension and clean. The machine wasn't too dirty, but there was goop all over it. I think the prior owner used to put tape on it as reminders or something! Anyway, some paint chips etc. for its age, but it works great now after about 4 hours of TLC. Also, a family photo of the 3, 301's I have. I feel kind of guilty for having 3 of them now!!! But, 301's seem to have turned into my 'specialty' and refurbishing 3 of them has taught me a lot.

That is a Singer 99K and is a really nice machine to own, I have several of them and I really like them. It is a 3/4 machine and is a baby 66-18 essentially with the back tack feature and sharing a lot of the same parts as a 66. I have a handcrank version of this machine in the classifieds and I can say it lends well to the conversion. In fact all of my 99's are handcranks.

Why I think it is a Davis over a National is the body shape of the machine. Look at the shape of your Two Spools versus the Davis. On left side of the machine where the thread gets threaded through for the tension/guide, the shape of the body looks like the Davis. Then on the right, the two bolts looks like the bolts found on the Davis. National Two Spools does have that. No problem, just remove the slide/needle plate like any other machine! Nancy To ad confusion to this machine, the manual that came with the machine - I know this is the correct manual for the machine - says, "Silent and Light Running." Didn't New Home use the "light Running" along with their grayhound as their logo? |

Stopped by my favorite 2nd hand craft store and found a new attachment for my White FR treadle. I've never seen one before - it's kind of neat looking. It was only $2.95. It came with the original sales slip - $6.95 in August 1928. It's called a Stitch Master.
