Oh my....thank you Billy for starting this "Shop"! I know where my first stop will be every morning and night...LOL! I need to take a picture of my Mom's Singer 206 that she left to me. I have posted pictures of my other machines here and there on this board. The 206 has been and still is a workhorse. I learned to sew on her when I was a teenager. I'll do that when I go back up to see my Dad next month! My Redeye seems to have an issue that for the life of me I don't know why I didn't notice when I was checking her out before buying her but hopefully it is something simple to fix. I can't lower the presser foot. The lever in the back moves up and down but the bar isn't moving......I guess I was so enthralled with finding her that I just had to have her anyway and discovered it later at home. Any suggestions. I still have to clean her up and have to find a NADA auto parts store to get that GOJO without PUMICE. With the "shop" open maybe I'll get the nerve up to get her going. I sure do want to sew with her!

That presser foot problem sounds like it may just be a missing pin that connects the shaft to the lever...easy fix if it's that! :)

This is my "Friday", and William is going bass fishing tomorrow, so I'll be at home tearing into Hazel and trying to take her apart so she can be sandblasted clean of the old Japaned finish. I'll also be checking with body shops to see what they'll charge me to paint her, and maybe even check with a detailer to see what it would cost to have decorative stuff painted on! :)

I also need to go to Lowes and get the stuff to strip the cabinet, smooth it, stain, and shellac it. Methinks this is going to be a long term project!!

The presserfoot problem might be the bar itself. It could be gummed up.

Take the faceplate off and see what it looks like inside, it could very well be the pin or it could be seized up. If thats the case then good ole WD-40 can fix you right up. It might take a while but do not force anything. Then you can give the mechanics a good Kerosene bath trying not to get too much on the finish. Afterwards the Go Jo cleaning with cotton balls and Q-Tips, then hit it with the Scotts Liquid Gold in the pour bottle and its a new machine!

And if you want to clean the plated parts use SemiChrome or Mothers Mag Wheel Polish.

Go Jo is a waterless hand cleaner that you can find at Walmart, and any auto parts store. Just make sure it is the NON PUMICE kind.

Billy, Thank you for starting the shop. I will be dropping by often. I don't have a picture of my FW but will get her out this week and post. I guess I will have to give her a name also.

Decided to come in for a cup of coffee and sit a spell. Really injoy seeing all the old Singer sewing machines. Brings back all the memories of sewing on my Mother's treddle machine that she had from her Mother. My sister has the machine and hopefully will pass it on to the next generation. I have been on a hunt for a Singer for myself and this weekend I went shopping at the thrift stores and I got my machine! This Singer I got isn't a treddle but has a motor on the back of the machine. Wondering if anyone knows how old it is. This machine was ment to be in a cabnet and going to make a cabnet for it. My husband knows that I am excited to use the machine so he is going to make a tempory stand for it.

Sounds like you have a nice one and if it has the external motor you can take it off and put it into a treadle if you want. I have done several like that around here.

If you post the serial number and possibly a photo or two we can date it for you and tell you what model it is!

Keep an eye out for the treadle bases and you can have you a treadle machine in no time!!!! Also before plugging it in and running it,look real close at the wiring and make sure there are no cracks or naked places.

No need to make yourself a victim if you do not need to be!

A person on Craigslist is selling a machine S/N AA 949619. He said it is a 99-13 but according to the Singer web site it is a 128.

At this time I don't plan on getting any more machines until I finish refurbing the ones I have.

My question is he says there are attachments. Would they fit my Model 66-2 treadle and what would be a good price to offer for them? I don't know what attachments they are just presser feet.

He is the type of person that wants you to give an offer, which I hate. I am not a haggler. :roll:
