Do you think the Berninas have a chance against the 301? LOL

I would take it with or without the case. I just bought my 3rd one this weekend and it is in a cabinet - which I love and they are awesome to sew on. Very easy to clean and maintain. It is a machine you will love. That one looks great. Grab it if it is available!

Last March, I bought a 301 in a cabinet from St Vinny's. Paid $35.00.Wonderful machine. When looking to purchase; make sure that the bobbin case is there. Same as the 221 Singer Fietherweight. Very pricey if you have to replace. Seems prices have gone up on these machines. Paid less for my black machine; but had to find a bobbin case; [found one on ebay].

The ad's been changed to $150. While I think a serviced machine with those accessories could sell for that, since the original ad said $60, that sort of change makes me a little disappointed in human nature. It may be worth the money, depending on your area, etc, I don't usually pay that for them, but I often get them in pretty rough shape, and I can't sell them cleaned up and serviced for even close to that.

That whole setup is worth $150, easily. You won't find one that nice for that price on e-bay. You would be lucky to get just the machine for that. I would certainly grab it. (Singer 301 is my favorite machine of all time.) That machine is in good shape. Go get it! To she who hesitates, it is lost.

I have both Bernina and Singer 301 and I predict the 301 would win. Why? Because it is simple and you will be sewing long before the Bernina owner has her machine set up. Plus, the 301 is bulletproof and it's very unlikely anything will go wrong so long as you have oiled it and cleaned it regularly.

Yes, it is a Singer 301. The fact that it is in a cabinet means it also has the cradle necessary to hold the 301 in a cabinet.

looks like a bargain to me...
Even with no cabinet, no attachments, nothing besides the machine, I predict they can get $125 for that.
