what a nice looking machine sharon. the 101 that was for selll on cl in my area didn't look so appealing. what is the harp (throat) space on your 101? it looks like there is plenty of room to manuver a large quilt.

I just might do that Dottie. Right now she is sitting next to my Elna 7300 and begging to be used.

Harp space is approx 8 inches long by 6 inches high. The harp size on my Elna 7300 is approx 9 inches by 5 inches. Not much difference. The 101 actually has approx 3 square inches on harp space. Go figure, the Elna is a Quilting Pro Queen. I am finishing putting borders on a quilt top today and the 101 will be the machine I will use to FMQ, after some practice of course.

Don't know yet as I will have to read the manual. I don't see a screw underneath to lower the feed dogs. It may take a feed dog cover plate. If the 101 won't work then I will bring in the 15-91 to do the job. I think I can do some more re-arranging to make room for another sewing machine downstairs. LOL

Caroline LOL

Hey does this machine have an on/off switch ? We can't seem to locate one . My nieces' grandma on her Dads side has a 101 also - hers was from the 30s I think - she couldn't find the switch either .

I am going over tonight to see where to oil the machine - I have a bottle of Singer Sewing machine oil - is that what we use ?

sharon i think you will also need motor lube for the motor. that is what i used for my 15-91 along with the singer machine oil. i haven't started cleaning up on the 301a yet so it waits for its 'bath'. lol
