Hopefully someone from the Houston area can give a possible lead on a repair person.

thanks for the pics. Now I'm going to do another flip flop on you. Shiny bits are shiny. That wasn't the image we got from your words. Now I'm doing to echo Micky2's words. "
With a bit of luck; try to find the spots where the paint glues part stuck, you might be able to force the parts free, cut it with a razor blade or thin blade knife."

Oil everything under the base that should move too and take off the faceplate and oil the presserbar and needlebar.

Looks far prettier than I expected. And congrats on the picture re-sizes.

Here is a blog detailing how to dismantle a 66:
http://mysewingmachineobsession.blog...66-or.html?m=1

These machines are extremely simple compared to even machines from the 50's, so taking one down and putting it back together will be easy as long as you are patient and take your time.

For your problem I would start by taking the handwheel off and see if paint worked into the rear bushing, as I imagine that would be the first place paint might seep into if it was not masked.

If paint is visible there, scrape it off with a razor blade or dental pick, or very carefully apply some paint stripper with a q-tip.

I would also make sure oil visibly lowers into the oil holes along the top. If they do not, they are likely plugged with paint.

I wouldn’t disassemble it. I would look for paint over spray and clean that off. Those machines usually turn real sweet and if turned sweet before, it will again when you find the paint. You don’t need a technician for that, a bit of patience would go a long ways. Turn it every direction and see what you can find. Look in all the places where paint could go between things that should move.

It sure seems to me that someone who knows enough about these machines to have a source and be able to apply new decals would surely have been more conscientious than to return it to you in unusable condition. I'm concerned, having lived in Houston for many years, that the machine may have been exposed to too much humidity or worse. Was it in the paint shop during Harvey?! In any case, the rust and/or paint can be removed and she should sew again.

Have you contacted the place that did the work?
