Hope your studio turns out terrific Joann - can't wait to see your pictures!

A Featherweight is definitely next on my wish list too! Keeping my eye out for a good one!

May your Dear Daughter stay safe and have a rewarding time in Pakistan!!!! How long does she expect to be posted there?

Interesting! I do hope she rewired the thing since some of the old machines wiring can get a wee bit hot, don't want to see a house fire. It is a very cute and clever idea!

No Lara I am unable to work in the garage during the winter. That is another future project, LOL. Yes, I was desperate for sewing and storage space. So I decided that the garage was NEVER used to park vehicles so it needed to be re-purposed. And more logic set in, HA HA. Washington is a community property state so legally I was entitled to at least one half of the garage. Then more logic set in, I perform 95% of the work around here so I was entitled to more than 50%, so I took over 80%. I love my logic.

The little blue and yellow log cabin quilt was a Goodwill rescue so I can't claim the credit for making it, just saving it.

I have not yet shared pics of the wardrobes where the portables are stored in the bottom. And, it would be a bit embarrassing to take pics of the closest where more portables are living under quilts on the floor. I am a near genius at hiding my girls and will only admit to DH that I have at least 20. He does not ask how many but just states I have at least 20. And I say, oh at least

Brrrr....! Caroline even if your garage/studio still needs insulation and heat, your "Take Over" logic gave me a good laugh!

...she wouldn't have a clue about wiring either - hubby did mention the wiring but she hasn't brought it over for him to look at yet.

Thanks Lara, she will be there for 2 years...and I am crossing my fingers that nothing goes "sour" over there. They will be well protected living inside the diplomatic enclave but everyone knows how 'touchy" that part of the world is....and then there are other every day things to be concerned about like the fact that the city doesn't have clean water and wild monkeys that might be rabid! I kid you not.................
there is a FW at the auction on thursday :-)

It's all too easy to understand your concerns Joann... thank God she will be living in the diplomatic enclave!
Never in a million years would I have guessed that rabid wild monkeys would be a worry... goodness gracious
Hope you find her a beautiful FW to take with her and that she finds time to make many fulfilling projects with it!

I am hoping to make room for a few more of my machines and maybe finally bring home my great grandmothers Singer VS2 fiddlebase treadle to work on.

I am looking for another FW myself for my daughter to take overseas - she has been posted to the Canadian consulate in Islamabad Pakistan (((sigh))) and wants something light to ship in her sealift.

Love seeing everyones picsi

Joann
If you don't find a FW, remember the 301 is only about 5# heavier and has that wonderful carrying handle built in. I think it's cool she wants to bring a sewing machine. I bet that doesn't happen often, she should be popular. So hard to see our young people go to dangerous parts of the world. May you both have peace and safety while you are apart.

Caroline S, it looks like you have done a lot with a little. And, bless you for bringing your mother to live with you. We have offered my parents to live with us but they wanted to live independently. If you have more than 20 machines in your places, you really are good at hiding. Loved your math formula for the garage.

Charlee, still planning to post mine after the contractors lay our new kitchen and dining room flooring next week and we get back to somewhat normal living... I think!

OK,.. so my sewing room is finally neat enough that I shouldn't find this too embarrassing.

This room doubles as a project room for me, so anything that doesn't involve table saws and huge amounts of sawdust ends up in here.

So, counter clockwise starting with the new machine that's going to have to live in front of the closet for a while. 503J. Yet unnamed.

Next we have the 1936 15-91 (Moose). This was a rescue, I had to rewire it right from the plug to the inside of the motor. I followed Rain's tutorial for that. Then the 403A. (Archie) Technically, the cabinet that the 15 is in belongs to the 403, but I had the portable case for the 403, and the case for the 15 is pretty much destroyed. The Elna Supermatic (1958), sitting on the work bench / cutting table in front of the display cases I've been making for the 99 and the 15.

Alice, my lovely (though very worn) 1889 VS2 Fiddle Bed. She's a rescue / restoration project. The wood veneer has to all be replaced, and the coffin top needs the top veneer replaced as well. She runs beautifully though, very quiet.

Next is Ronnie, a 1950 FW, and the 14u64a serger.

Below this, in the shelves are a Kenmore 158.1525 or something or other, a Singer 290C, the box for the FW, and a bunch of wood working and restoration tools for the treadle cabinets.

Further to the left is the 1948 Centennial 15-90. (I know, Singer's centennial is 1951, but the machine has the badge and comes up as a 48 on the charts.)

Under the 15-90 is a bunch of Singer memorabilia and documentation.

Moving along, we have the 99 I've been looking for parts for, and the Singer Sewing Reference Library underneath it, along with another FW case.
The treadle is Betty, a 1913 model 27 (late model, with motor mount and high mounted bobbin winder, but the charts at ISMACS show it as a 27, not a 127) - Also a rescue, her cabinet is partially restored.
On Betty's extension is Midge, the 1950 FW with the cup rings on the bed.
Below the treadle extension are the cases for the machines I'm working on, and the "spare" 99.

Last but not least, my "trinkets display"
