you are the best. Kathie
Kathie you are welcome. That little FW might take a 50 wt poly, but the thread you had in it was too heavy a thread. I have never tried anything heavier than a 50 wt in the old machines. I doubt so much it is the type of thread that makes a difference, but the weight of the thread. I think a 50 wt poly would work fine, but no embroidery thread.

I have had a Singer 66, serial #AK886098, for about 6 months now. I've loved sewing on it and use it lots. Now I can't get the needle to pull up the bobbin thread.

I was sewing last week and my top thread broke, I re-threaded the needle, sewed about 18" and it broke again, I re-threaded the entire top thread, and changed the needle, sewed about 12" and it broke again, took the bobbin out, oiled it per instruction manual, and now it won't pull the bobbin thread up. Everything in the bobbin case moves. I've re-threaded both top and bobbin several times. If any of you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate.

Thanks,
Marie M.

This exact same problem was just answered in the MAIN section ( http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-101371-1.htm )
It seems that the needle was put in incorrectly. Have you changed your needle recently?

So, what is generally used to get rust off of chrome? Some 0000 steel wool?

I'd also appreciate any info I could get on the wooden Singer puzzle boxes for attachments. Were those made for certain models only, or just for a certain time period? If just for specific models, which ones?

Thanks!
I would also be interested in the answer to these questions. Thanx
I have used plain old white vinegar, soaked for a short time and rinsed & dried well. Vinegar is acidic and does take off the minor rust problems, AND it's non-toxic. I couldn't find Evaporust anywhere here.

Also re-painted a Singer 128 hand crank and named her Blue Sally (the instructions are on my webshots), a featherweight just because they're cute as a button (only electric). Got many others throughout the house but these are my 'main' machines that I use daily (at least I WISH I could use them daily!). REALLY gotta get my pictures updated. I have sworn off Craigslist for awhile now because I can't help myself. I joined this quilting forum so I would actually USE them more, and here I am again talking about machines. ha ha.

If anyone has a machine that is beyond saving in regards to the decals & paint, the re-painting really wasn't that hard and you can pick your favorite color. I LOVE blueish-purple!
Wow, I am a few pages behind so maybe this has been answered, but the Eldredge? Is that like a Wilcox and Gibbs with just a chain stitch or something different? I am so envious on your sewing space and machines!

Nancy
Hey Nancy, yepper, it's the same thing as the W & G machines (chainstitcher only, and really cute) but just made by a different company.

And by the way, I think there should be a place on the VSMS where we can see your gallery pictures of ALL of your

It doesnt take that much for a sewing machine but the smallest amount it comes in is pints. I could get 2 or 3 machines depending on the size of them out of a pint.

I have some machines that I have painted in my PDA and there are a few of them scattered about through out the board. But I will post a couple here so you can see what they look like.

Oh WOW WOW WOW WOW Billy!!! Your re-paints are absolutely GORGEOUS. Wow. *drool*

I thought they sold the color-changing paint in a spray can and it was made by DuPont or someone like that?

I got up with the intention of snapping pics of my MM room and my machines to post and I cannot find my camera to save myself. I thought I could walk right to the spot where it always is, but today it's not there and I can't figure out where I put it. Now I know why I collect sewing machines reather than something small, they don't hide from me.....
