Thank you, Nancy. I believe my son and new bride really do/will appreciate their quilt and the work that has gone into it. My son has been particularly encouraging to me all along as he knows that with my disabilities it isn't always easy. His wife knows her way around a sewing machine, so I'm sure she will appreciate it, too. :D

The block in my avatar is from a BOM a couple of years ago called "Heartland Heritage", designed by Pam Buda from heartspunquilts.com. She is quite a talented designer. :thumbup:

Yes, you can get them on ebay, I just got some for mine that I've had since the 50's. Just put Sew Handy or child's sewing machine needles in ebay search and it should bring up any that are available. There are manuals, thread spool pins, etc. available too. Good luck.

Billy, had the same thing. Caught it barely in time before pneumonia. LOTS of rest, drugs (including codeine cough syrup) and my dr knows me well enough to tell me no sewing just because I was home resting and not working! :) I didn't feel like it anyway b/c the codeine makes me tired but it helped the hacking. Follow her orders it what I would say.

Garage saling today just because. Found a free Dressmaker with a handwheel that turns but the needle doesn't move. Asked if he'd oiled the machine and he said it sat in the garage for about 5 yrs. Any ideas on to unfreeze the needle and get her working again? Will post pics later today after the yard work and garden work. It's a potted motor. You can see the belt on the handwheel but it's covered other than that along with the motor. Thx in advance.

i love looking at the posts about the vintage sewing machines and learning about them. i learned to sew on a singer treadle machine and it really sewed well. keep up the good work. we all appreciate it.

My hats off to you people who enjoy tinkering with these old machines. I am ready to pull my hair out on my 66. Hubby and I can not get the tension right. The more we fool with it the bigger the birds nest on the bottom gets. We are ready to throw in the towel and take it in to be serviced. We worked on the White today also and we could not get it to pick up the bobbin thread. I walked away from it and hubby continued working with it. He found out that you turn the balance toward the back instead of front like the Singers. It took a while to get the bobbin case threaded. I need to take some classes for dummies. :-( Kathie
