Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
My All Machines quilt is under way. With over 30 machines I've decided to make a quilt from scrap denim and use each and every machine to do it with.
So my squares are going to be 6.5", however much of the scraps only allow for 3.5" pieces. Doing the math, 4 x 3.5 = 6.5". I've sewed the 3.5" squares into 6.5" squares with the Singer 3810, 99K, and Minnesota ~B~ so far.
(Minerva, the Minnesota ~B~ gave me the least trouble of all three. The other two seem to be cranky about the tension. Minerva don't care, she just sews up a storm.)
Got to cut more squares now, I'm out.
I think next machine up will be more squares with the 99K, after that ....... to be determined.

I've been off due to neck and shoulder knotted up stiffer than a board. Chiropractor helped some but the stupid pills (strong muscle relaxer and pain killer have also helped.) Also worked on Rebeckah, my 301, some to get her running right. I'm thinking all of the issue(s) were carbon based unit issues and not the machine. She sews beautifully now and I didn't do anything to her! Go figure.

Oh, and a Happy Late Anniversary Charlee! I am a little behind as I am trying to get a quilt done!

Redo of the Viking and cabinet. What a mess it was but now cleaner, rewired, and sews beautifully. Took off all the crack varnish on the cabinet, left it natural as it was originally and sealed the wood with tung oil.
Thanks for all the help the last couple of days for this little cutie. Had no idea on the knee control...low and behold right in the top cover. Cleaned up, lubed and oiled, sews beautiful stitches. Anyone know where I can find a manual?

Chris, I hope your neck and shoulder get better soon. I hurt my right shoulder some how and haven't been able to lift my arm in certain positions! Dr. says it is a rotator cuff, but I am not convinced! I think it is just strained muscles from pulling a cart with horse poop around while cleaning! Not fun, anyway.

Have they done Xrays of your shoulder? Rotator cuff was one of the possibilities with mine...but it turned out to be "Calcific tendonitis", a calcium deposit that irritates the tendon and limits range of motion. After a year or so, it's finally getting better, altho I still don't have full range yet...
Thanks Nancy...

I really can't complain, though, what is wrong with me is really minor! It is just harder to get on Bo- he is 16.2 hands - a really big guy; and, I am having a hard time trying to pull a blouse/t-shirt off over my head - my arm screams at me when I try!

I've been taking a few pics of each machine as I use it. Thinking about starting a thread and then updating it as I go.
What I was thinking of was making a silhouette of each machine and appliqueing it on to the border row of squares with the name of each machine. I'm trying to remember how we did the silhouette thing wayyyyyyyyyy back when I was in grade school.

What thread did you decided to use for all of your machines?
Yes, I had x-rays. I am falling apart! My right hip has been killing me - I thought the screws that were put in there from a bad horse accident had backed out! The Dr. that put them in 10 years ago said all screws unscrew eventually - so when the hip started hurting I figured that was the case. They x-rayed the hip and shoulder at the same time. The Dr. was kinda vague about it - said the screws are where they are suppose to be - thinks the hip is just bursitis. The shoulder, he thought 'could' be a rotator cuff thing, or bursitis. He injected the shoulder - didn't help. I was up most of the night with pain - can't get my arm in a comfortable position? Was it that way with your shoulder?

I know many women that have develop this syndrome. Those that waited the year out versus having surgery have been very surprised to find the shoulder better after end of the year.
It's no fun to go through, and I find it interesting that the Japanese have this phrase for the syndrome.
