New washing machine
#1
Help! I am so confused in researching for a new washer/dryer. I thought I wanted a front loader, but now they have the new top loader without the typical agitator which is comparable to the features of the front load, gentle on clothes, high spin speeds to extract more water, energy efficient, etc.
What type of "new" washers do you all use? (I am told all the problems with the early versions of washers have been re-designed to address the old problems (out of balance, mold etc)
I value opinions since I have never used one, tell me your pros and cons experience.
Thanks so much
Jenny

I have one of the earlier LG front loaders and I just love it! I've never had a balance problem, we did have a slight problem with mold but we just do a quick wipe off every few loads and that hasn't been a problem. My water bill went way down and since they are larger machines I have to do less loads! They are also quiet as a mouse!

I have a Siemens front loader. I understand they are no longer sold in the U.S., but I love my machine. It is very similar to the machine I had in Germany. There is a Sanitary cycle, which heats the water and actually boils the clothes clean. I've got the whitest tighty whiteys around.

I've had a Whirpool front loader for quite a few years and I love it. Never a problem, I can fit a HUGE amount of items in it. Before this machine I had a Whirlpool top loader, the biggest that was available. The top loader holds considerably more. Even though were a small family now, that capacity is great!

I would go with the front loader. Washing heavy blankets, throw rugs and bigger towels in even heavy duty top loaders makes them wear out faster. Front loaders are made to take the heavy weights.

I have a Bosch front loader and it is much gentler on my clothes than a traditional agitating top loader. I don't close the door all the way to keep the bad smell and mold at bay. Every so often, I also run a load with regular bleach to kill any spores.
We have very hot water coming into the washer so I opted for the one that does not have a thermostat built in. Those seem to take FOREVER to be done.

I had one of those "wonderful" top loading energy efficient pieces of crap that "weighed" the clothes and bounced them around to prevent wear. $1,000 for a washer.
Suffice it to say- I now own a nice new front loading high efficiency washer thanks to the warranty on the other and being pushy about making them come back 6 times to fix the other one.
Am happy with the front loader but the old one fit about 18 pairs of jeans at once. But, we are a smaller family now (who am I kidding they come home to do their wash).
front loaders use less water so that's why I chose it.

I love my front-loader with one exception. It's hard to soak like I used to. I had a top loader and would soak quilts, linens etc for hours. Now I have to use the sink in my laundry room.
Has anyone else had this experience??
But the front load is fantastic! I highly recommend.
