My Joann's did not have the queen Warm & Natural pkg batting & when I asked at the checkout if I could get a raincheck, I was told they don't give raincheck. I was bummed, but when I called the next day to ask a new shipment had come in/or when it would come in.......he said that I could special order at the sale price!! How nice is that, at Joann's, I'm a happy camper.

You can always special order the stuff on sale. They doit all the time. I like it much better than rainchecks because they didn't hold the raincheck stuff for you, they just let you know when it arrived. Special Order is just for you because you have paid for it or put a down payment on it.

I live in upstate NY and have 2 Joann's approximately the same distance from where I live.

I usually go to the one in Albany as it is a larger store and has more merchandise.

I special ordered the Warm & Natural last week when it was half price, plus got the 10% off for being a guild member.

This week when I saw it was less than $10.00 I went to the Amsterdam store. Of course they had none in stock which I expected, but when I asked about special ordering it, I was told that I would have to pay a $7.00 fee for Fed-Ex. I told her that was incorrect as I had just bought it the previous week. She argued with me until I showed her my receipt. I don't know if the $7.00 was the total Fed-Ex charge or $7.00 each.

Either way, I didn't special order it and that store lost my business. I am not one to go back on what I say when I say that a place lost my business. I had a problem with McDonalds 26 years ago as they made my order wrong then wanted to recharge me. Haven't been to one since!

I believe the clerk was the manager and have heard her before disagreeing with customers along with short cutting the material. She gets mad when I tell her that the end is not even and it isn't a complete yard. She also tends to flip the fabric up so it doesn't land on a yard, but about an inch or so short then cuts.

I ended up going back to the Albany store and ordering more of the Warm and Natural.

No matter what, I will not shop in Amsterdam again!

I love that store in Albany. I hate the Joann's here :( Especially the about 5 miles from my house. Just always looks yunky, the workers are crabby (some just MEAN) and they can't cut fabric accurately. I had to argue with them one day because the piece was damaged on the bolt and they told me that they couldn't cut it off and start after it. I'm like then I don't want it...$12.99 chenille needs to be right. They eventually cut it off & I got my piece.

Jealous of the ya'll who get to go to the old Northway Mall location!

I wish someone had offered that to me when I went in for some! Now I know to ask. They are not overly helpful at my local Joann's :( . I needed some now so I ordered thru the web at a sale price similar to the per yard sale price of the bolts, but more than the $9.99/package price. A bit more than I wanted to spend, but I need it and they are the only local source of it.

    Thanks for posting it.

Do you all suppose that the higher ups at JoAnn's have any idea that people all over the country are unhappy with their management, clerks and stores in general? How can they not know? I only hope that if this buy out goes thru, the new owners (granted a partnership) will be more concerned for the customer. We are the people who keep them open.

I was in a Joann's today. I told the checkout clerk that I hadn't yet received my sales flyer. She told me that she doesn't get hers on time either.

I asked her if she could report that many customers - and did reference many on this board who are having problems - and she said there was nothing she could do. I suggested that she tell her store manager that a customer, and others, are having an issue. She was very polite, but I don't think she will as she herself, as a customer, feels powerless. If I hadn't been in a hurry, I should have sought out the manager.

Anyway, she told me that the ownership change was solely to prop up the stock price. She didn't think that there would be any change in service.

Wow! My JoAnn's will cut the bad part off and offer it to me for half off. I mean, I'm going to cut it in little pieces anyway right? I've gotten a lot of fabric that way! I even got a whole yard of brocade for 70% off because it had a faded spot from being exposed to the light. I feel more and more spoiled when I hear of the problem you guys have :)

Last year I wrote a 2-page letter outlining my complaint issues, starting with the "I spent over $1,000 last year at your store".

Didn't even get an acknowledgment of my letter.

Joann's and Walmart are the pits for listening to their customer's.

I will agree about JoAnn's, however the one time I emailed a concern/suggestion to corporate WalMart, I had a phone call the next day from the manager of the local store. I was impressed. Also recently I have been looking for a certain animal print fabric - none at my LQS, none at JoAnn's (I was disgusted because the fabric in the store was all jumbled up and falling on the floor so I left) but I found it at WM. Their fabric/craft section is always clean and neat.
