Stop in Lincoln NE at the Quilt Study Center - always interesting to see what quilts they have on display.

You should ask to see the show room upstairs that has a collection of quilts from local quilters. In the early spring your would see quilts from along the West Coast, these would be auction off this year on April 7-8 for world relief. You might also see men in the backroom making rag rugs of of old jeans.

There are also very good local eating establishment on the same street.
So, I would very much recommend this place..I was actually a manager there for 10 years.
Your link sent me to "selling a domain"...Is this what you wanted??

In the San Diego area my favorite is Memory Lane Quilt shop in El Cajon, not too far from there is Cozy Quilts and then there is Rosie's Calico Cupboard in San Diego.

My friend and I have a yearly quilting retreat in Las Vegas. We enjoy the Christmas Goose, and a new one Sew Yeah Quilting is great - it's new and very open and lots of light. And then there is Quiltique in Henderson, NV (which is right next to Las Vegas.

coming near KC? north of us is Hamilton,MO home of Missouri Star Quilt Co, then in Park Hill, MO (closer to KC, south of Hamilton) is a shop which I'm blanking on the name--Park Hill is a quaint town. From there cross the Missouri River into Leavenworth, KS--VERY historic--can't get on the Army Base there without prior clearance, they also have quilt shop and a very historic town--from the 1850's. Head south to KC and there's Prairie Points in Shawnee, KS; Quilters Haven in Olathe KS; Lil Red Hen in Paola, KS and swinging over to Lee's Summit, Mo is another quilt shop. If you head west from Paola instead there is Quilted Paradise in Baldwin City. ALL these places are very historic--THIS is where the Civil War actually started in the 1850's with "Bleeding Kansas". Further west in Lawrence, KS (Quantrill's Raid) is Sarah's Fabrics. Kansas City is also the home to the WWI National History Museum/Liberty Memorial, Union Station (where there were gangster shoot outs in the 20's; and hobby train displays along with the Science Museum); The Kemper & Nelson Museums of Art----those are just some starters for this area. AND if you get here by June 15-17 you can go to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest (put on by 15 area guilds--all volunteer help and last one (biannual so 2015) there were about 10,000 attendees. So head out here in June!

I haven't been to many fabric stores, but Fabric Depot in Portland, OR is a hot spot.

I am going to check out Jannilou Quilt Shop in Philomath, OR next time I head to the coast. They own the Aunt Becky finger protector company.

If you're around the Tucson area in Arizona, there's the Pima Air Museum for your hubby and The Quilt Basket, and the Cactus Quilt Shop.

What a fantastic opportunity. If you get to the Shipshewanna, Indiana area there are several quilt shops. Lollys, Yoders, and Cotton Corner. Nearby is Pumpkin Vine Quilting is nearby in Middlebury. Others in that area as well but these are the ones I've visited.

Enjoy your once in a lifetime trip!!

If you ever make it as far East and North as Maine, we have a fabulous amount of quilt shops. I am fortunate to have three within a 20 minute driving distance from my home. I love it that all three are completely different in terms of their fabric offerings...one has quilting cottons and flannels but is more geared around home design, pillows, drapes, upholstery, etc.

I don't think you could go wrong by popping your head into any one of Maine's 36 independently-owned quilt shops. Just "google" Quilt Shops of Maine. Have fun on your journey and be sure to keep us updated on your travels.

Northern Indiana is quilt country. We plant quilt gardens and have a tour of them. There is Lolly's and Yoder's Dept. store and many little shops. I know where they all are! Private mail me for more names. No military things that I know of.

California, where I used to live, has a lot of water front properties. Take care. Marcia

There are several in Michigan that I really like but on is the Hen House in Charlotte, MI. http://thehenhousemi.com/ It is just off I- 69 about 20 miles from Lansing, MI. We have so many good shops! One of my favorites in Indiana is Heaven on Earth http://www.heavenonearthofwabash.com/

When you have you travel plans more firm and if Michigan is on your list, feel free to PM me for ideas near your destination.
