Well, I think that Connecting Threads is conspiring against me! I needed about 5 yards of WOW for a gift quilt I'm making. My niece also expressed interest in making a jelly roll race top. I ordered the 5 yards and 2 jelly rolls from CT. They sent the wrong yardage. Instead of white, it's a pin dot in a cinnamon color. I contacted them, they are sending the correct fabric & told me to keep the other (for my stash). Love their customer service! When I went to fold it, I saw that it was in 2 pieces & they sent a bunch (over a yard) extra to make up for it. I guess I got a nice free backing. But it's not in my colors, so it doesn't go with anything in my stash, so maybe I'll have to buy some fabric to go with it?

I have never been disappointed with the service and products from CT but does sound like they are conspiring against you, like you said. :-) I think the new fabric to match the mis-sent stuff...might not be counted as too much of a demerit against you. You will use it eventually, right??? LOL!

It was their error, so any demerits go to CT!

Except for some fabric I bought from a friend (something I foresaw and stipulated in the beginning), I've been good so far. I went into a fabric store only one time for zippers and interfacing, and I ordered more zippers and thread online. My husband gave me a half-yard of fabric that he bought for me "just because," but I'm not going to count an unsolicited gift as a demerit. I'm just going to say, "Thank you!"

This month was a good month for my not buying any fabric or fabric notions, etc. I only swapped ugly fabric and F-Q's with others from the F-q swap this month. So it was like getting new fabric (at least to me). It was interesting how nice the members were, and really did not send ugly fabric, and if they did it was sent with a nice piece of fabric. At least I did not think it was ugly.

I'm working from my Stash, on a block swap, which I'm currently washing my fabric so I can mail it out tomorrow. I'm also cutting out 2 1/2" candy blocks for the birthday swap and another swap due in 2 weeks. My last stash project is QB mystery quilt top #8. I'm a little behind. I'm now starting clue #4. Then I can start QB mystery #9, if I like it. That will be from my stash as well. No projects finished, but lots are in progress.

Free polka dot fabric? Lucky you - it can act as a neutral. And dotted binding is really cute.

I did good in February. Even managed to pull from stash for a Round Robin that I thought couldn't be done.

AngeliaNR, I had to have a chat with my DE (darling enabler) as he was pushing me toward going into LQS. He now understands that I really want to get out from under the enormous stash and that I may need help keeping me OUT of the stores.

Now he asks if I want to stop and when I say no he simply drives on. So far so good. I will have to go shopping for the Fat Quarter Birthday Swap. I asked for yellows-orange which is a color way I have very little.

I am thrilled I made it this far without a single fabric purchase. A HUGE accomplishment. I am even deleting those tempting e- mails with sale notices. Those were always my downfall in the past. Now for the second part of my commitment to myself... getting my stash organized.

Kudos to all who are keeping their promises to themselves.I've been spending the last few days cutting up denim. Some for future quilts but quite a bit for what I call backdoor rugs. Sew them like rag quilts using two layers of denim. I've on a dairy and not only have a DH coming in with snowy boots, but a son, DiL, and 5 Grands. The rugs wash up with DH's chore jeans. Hope to get some rugs sewn yet this weekend...

*Thunk* That was me falling off the wagon. I saw the cutest flannel fabric on Friday, which looks like it was made for an embroidery pattern I'm working on (OK, a pattern I have on a shelf in my sewing room - but I have all the floss purchased already). I just had to pick it up -now I just have to get started on the embroidery. Isn't this just too adorable to pass up? It goes with my Whooterville embroidery pattern from Crab Apple Hill.

Good news is I used more fabric in backings and bindings than I brought home - so my fall wasn't too steep.

Well, it's March 1 and I'm just jumping on board. My stash is in 2 large bookcases. One holds yardage, the other bins of scraps and fat quarters. I've been trying on my own this year to use the stash, and have been 99% successful. But I'm not making a dent in it. I'm working on a UFO that has all the fabric bagged with it. I'm in a round robin in my quilt group that I did use stash for, and felt very proud of myself. I have been deleting all emails from quilt shops without opening them..way too tempting. And my favorite go-to online store changed their website design and I found it harder to just browse, so that's been easier to stop checking to see what I just can't live without. I find I go into my sewing room, all fired up to get going on something, check out my fabric stash, get overwhelmed, and get on the computer to get absolutely nothing accomplished. Oh, and we have a summer place that has it's own stash, so I don't have to carry too much back and forth. Just writing all this makes me realize how much I need this group!!!
