For those familiar with the Singer 66, is there a feed dog cover or something similar to buy to attempt FMQ on the machine? Since I bought her, I've had glowing reviews about FMQ on the 15's, but I don't have a 15, I have a 66. Since the 66 will be my only vintage machine for a while, I might as well learn how to FMQ on her since it was the reason I purchased her. Also, if I have to buy a feed dog cover or something, are there boardmembers out there I could contact about the part before resorting to other websites?Thank you, Melissa
Yes they make a darning plate that goes over the feed dogs and then you can FMQ all you want! :D Billy
Billy, is this a "T" shaped plate? Just curious because I have one and no idea what it is. Thanks in advance. ~ Chris

Two more CL - interesting listings:

Here's a singer treadle cabinet, $40, you can have the machine too, if you want but they took it out:

This one is $40, also - selling an aquarium. The sewing cabinet is thrown if you want because it's the "perfect height & size as a stand"!

Do you know if there is a darning plate made for the Singer 401 ?
I have one that goes under the monogramer the covers the feed dogs for a slant shank machine - feed cover 161825. That seems to work pretty good. I also have a regular darning plate that I haven't tried yet. I see the darning plate is cheaper and easier to find. I need to find that post that gives the tips on FMQ with a 401! Help needed please! ;)
Monogramer? I don't think I have one of those on my 401.

It's an extra attachment thingie -sort of looks like a button holer. Makes little 3/4" script capital letters.

Here's one on eBay (that one looks like it has the wrong plate for a 401):

I should advertize mine out there for half that..... give the guy some competition... but the shipping would be a killer... :D
Actually if you send it FedEx Ground it is not really that expensive to ship. I have had several come that way, and it comes out between $18 - $30. Not too bad.

1907 New Home machine Style A. (from what I can figure out) I paid $15.00 at an antique mall for this old girl. I have run her through the spa treatment and it helped, but with our 100+ degree days, it is too hot to do it properly. I think someone has either poured varnish over parts of the machine, or the oil has dried into a black gunk that is going to need to be submerged for a couple of days to get it off.
She came with a motor, but the wiring was rat chewed, but she is gear driven and now turns smoothly. She has had a home "repaint" it was a lousy one.
I seem drawn to these rough old girls.
