Laura, the ones you used, were they for ceramics? I noticed that all of the decals from your supplier on Ebay were for ceramics. From what I read, the ones made for ceramics are kind of dull until they are fired in a kiln. The heat brings out the full colors then. Did you find the decals to be a little on the dull side? ~Stupid Question, if heat makes the colors pop, is there a way to heat the decals up either before or after they are applied to get full color without damaging the paint or any other heat sensitive parts on a machine? I think your Californian came out nice. Good Job!:thumbup:

sorry, but I have only had a couple of emails with the seller. Seems open to new/custom work as well.

I will order a set this week. I'm ordering the "celtic" set but I HATE the bed edge pattern. I am going to send him some suggestions for alternative designs and see what we can do.

Hi All Y'all!
I was at the first meeting of the month for The Thank You Quilters today. We meet the 2nd & 4th Tuesday and Wednesday of the month.
I brought my one of my shortbed black 301s with me today. I plugged everything in, the light came on, but no power to the foot control. Well I took the bottom off the foot control, all the wires looked good in there. So next I took the original connector apart that goes into the machine....oooh not good! Who the heck "fixed" this??? Some genius(not me) had put a new cord set on. They attempted to use the original part; so the wires were stripped and done badly, leaving only 2 strands of wires per connector. The foot control worked intermittently. I'm glad that I brought a featherweight with me too or I couldn't have sewn.
Thankfully the local repairman is fixing things properly. He used to work in a shop that seldom ordered new parts, so he had to learn to fix things properly.
I wish I knew how to do it, since I don't I'll leave it to the expert.

P.S.: I sold the machine today!! So the foot control needed fixing ASAP. :D

I worked on two Singer Touch & Sew machines today. One came with a treadle base with no machine but a hole in the cabinet big enough for the T&S in other words the poor cabinet was butchered. The machine was filthy on the outside.

The inside was needing some clean up. The plastic gears were intact so I dug in on it - why not give the poor machine a chance. The stitch selectors were gummed up but I got them free thanks to T-F and some heat. It took quite a bit of clean up to keep the selectors moving. The underside of the machine looked like it was starved for oil. The tension was a little filthy so I took it apart and rebuilt. The bobbin winder was fine. So I test sewed. Perfect. Wow. I'm thinking this one should chain stitch. It is a lot like the 401, 500, 600 etc but noisy due to the plastic gears. Then I had another T&S machine Wilbur started cleaning yesterday. It was sort of like the 403 and 503 in that you have to use disks for anything other than straight stitch. This one was fairly clean inside and out and runs fine. Seems there are some T&S machines out there that are fine.

and yes I did change out the avitar - Miss Lovie is cleaning some older metal Singer zz (I can't remember what model) machine I dragged home. She was in her element - the machine was FULL of lint. She loves to dig out lint and grease. She is learning where to tools go back to. We also dis-assembled the bobbin area and she was catching on how to put it back. Next time I think I'll make her do it. I love my lights I got a IKEA in Cincinnati last weekend. WOW.
