Oldsewnsew, I have a machine just like your New Home Light Running one. Those holes are for a treadle belt. Actually, the whole machine- base and all - stay together and sit in a Parlor type treadle cabinet. These treadle heads are really cool as you can treadle them or lift the machine out with base still attached to do some hand cranking. Is the motor a friction pulley system? The motor was probably added, I highly doubt that machine came with a motor originally. Buy the way, very nice looking New Home!

Manicmike, I am drooling over your 222K! You did steal it, but what a steal! Those machines around here sell for $1,000 and up!

Macy, I love your underbraider education! We have an attachment thread if you'd like to go there and post the same information! It is great to have these resources at our fingertips so when we have a question on how to use an attachment - we can just go to the attachments section and find it! http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...d-t139458.html

The motor may have been added, but it is a knee controller, and says New Home with a greyhound on it and has an articulated arm so it can swing in to clear the cover, and for friction feed tire.
Do you have leads for bobbins, needles or a manual download? Jim P. (in Oregon) |

My (now) legendary friend Marianna in Brisbane got her dad to pick it up yesterday, and she's packing it up this morning. Courier from there: Bit of work getting it here but definitely worth it. I'll take better pictures when it arrives. |

I have taken the tops off the irons so it would fit in the car. Reassembling can be tricky if you are good with tools and take pictures of where everything goes.

I like the long bladed screw drivers - I'm still looking for a longer thinner one that won't twist when I have to loosen something.

I scored a Singer 99 in a pristine cabinet tonight - absolutely thrilled with it! :) No bobbins (but I already have some) and I found a Singer 'automatic needle threader' in the original packaging in the box of attachments - what a bonus! 99's are fairly common in my area - but finding them in a cabinet is very rare.
PS This is either my 3rd or 4th model 99 - the others are all in portable cases. This newest score is destined as a Christmas gift to a step-grand-daughter. :) |
The spousal unit bought me a Kennie 84 (German model) today, mostly because I had seen it yesterday and whined until he gave in, but that's a whole `nuther story!
It was locked up with the needle down, and the presser foot wouldn't move. Grant kept me after it, and I managed to free it up, change the needle, thread it and...it stitches! Sorta. The stitch length lever bounces back to "0" after just a couple of stitches. :( Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm at a loss... This one was irresistible for me...it had the manual, attachments, bobbins out the wazoo, cams, a page out of a scrapbook, a page of instructions for a model car and a hefty layer of greasy nicotine stained dust. Every time I look at it I see another spot I missed while cleaning...I'm tempted to spray it down with "Awesome" and put it in the shower!! LOL! (I won't, but it's tempting!) |
