It sold for over $400.00!!!! I kind of like it. It reminds me of my daughter's Volks Wagon 'Thing' (a car that was only made for 2 years back in the 70's)--it was bright orange just like the FW in the picture. Here is a link to a picture of an orange "Thing" :

Ok you all, I got a free motion foot for my 15-88 treadle. I lowered the feed dogs with the thumb screw that is near the bobbin casing. I am trying to FMQ now on a Halloween 'cheater' panel. I am having a blast, but I am making a mess of a stitch. I loosened the presser on the foot with that top of the head screw, but I can't figure out where to put the stitch regulator? This 15-88 actually has a a stitch regulator that goes from 30 to 6. I am not sure if I should have it at either end? Would that help my stitch? On my Pfaff Grand Quilter I put the stitch on 0 that way I can control the length -- on this treadle it doesn't seem to matter, but my stitch is really tiny and icky? Any suggestions from you more experienced treadlers?

I realize part of the problem is my treadling, but any help would be appreciated.

Billy, also I used the wheel on the 15-88 to stitch a pretty decent 'Happy Halloween' on the quilt (no treadling on that one! Now I want to put a hand crank on the treadle so I can use the hand crank or the treadle. Would that be a problem? Would I just have to move the belt over to use the Hand Crank, or can you use the hand crank with the belt still attached - would that hurt anything? I outlined the 'Happy Halloween' by turning the wheel and I did not disengage the belt for the treadle.

Also, I need to purchase a hand crank for this 15-88 - it does have a spoked wheel.

Cabbagepatchkid, I couldn't see the orange FW, already removed, but I did see the orange convertible! Very cool!

There is a guy who goes to quilt shows in my area that re-paints the featherweights to sell. He does a lot of purple ones. One of my friends bought a purple one for $800! I would love to own a colored FW, but I can't pay $800 for one!

I L-O-V-E that color!!! It reminds me of the Duster's of the late '60's that were painted Moulin Rouge. Billy, what would this paint color be called? I had asked you several months ago about painting a machine this color.

WOW!! I am sooooo kicking myself for not grabbing that featherweight! I should have the machine I did buy this weekend, Gonna need some help IDing it so I can get some info on the needles and bobbins, etc. The bobbin case is kind of bullet shaped.

Dodge called it "Panther Pink" and that is a color I was going to paint my FW until I found out that it was a very early one.

Honestly I think the repaints bring the value of the machine up I can not tell you how many machines that are not the "Factory Black" go for 3 times the price of the original. I sell to a quilt shop and they sell theirs for $1000+ and I can not supply them quick enough.

If the finish is really pristine I will not repaint them but if any decals are missing or it is scratched up then I am going to refinish it and change to colors up.

Nancy, your stitch regulator, stitch length, does not need to be set since you have lowered the feed-dogs. You will have to practice with movement of hands and the speed with which you treadle until you get a stitch that you like. My Halloween quilt has stitches that are very close together since I was going for a natural, uneven spider-web thread look and not the cutesy, even stitch length look. Have fun practicing! I would love to see your work too.

My new find, National/Western Electric Two Spool, which I picked up Monday from a person who saved it from going to the dump. This had been on CL for a couple of weeks. At first, I didn't know what it was when I saw the post. Well, I picked up another machine for free and was researching that one when I realized what this one was, a Two Spool. I immediately contacted the person asking about the machine and if it still had the can. He stated that he thought so. Next day, I made the drive to purchase my Two Spool. He was happy to see someone save the machine, and I now get to happily entertain myself with this beauty.
